Crossbow radiant quests

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 8:25 pm

So I just found Gunmar and Sorine and I started the quest Prophecy (where you have to find the Moth Priest). I was wondering if I can start getting the crossbow quests from Sorine right now or do I have to get further into the questline. And if I can start them now, do I have to get further into the main questline to get more of them?

If I have to get further, I'm just not gonna worry about it. It's a lot harder than I expected at level 20 on Expert :c

You can get the crossbows, and crossbow bolts as soon as Sorine is inside Fort Dawnguard.

Its for overpowered crossbows, Jack.

They put the dragonbone and daedric bows to shame and can be obtained at level 10.

Yep.

However fire rate is low, half of the dragon bow. An sniper weapon, you need the first sneak hit to count a lot.
Another problem is that you need bolts who require that you go after dawnguard factions or buy/ make at the dawnguard fortress.

Or you can be THAT guy and send your save to PC for a little bit. Now, my bolt count is well in the millions, and I sided with vampires! Take that, Bethesda! :P

I never bothered with the main questline, untill I finished the radiant quests for the better crossbos and bolts. Honestly, after improving both my Dragonbone Bow and Crssbow (the best one you can make at the end of the questline), my Dragonbone Bow was still much better that the crossbow. IMHO, I really didn't like the crossbow. Too loud. I got used to the fire rate, but the loudness of the crossbow didn't fit my archer/assassin character.

I did the Moth Priest quest last, after I did the Radiant Quests for Gunmar and Sorine.

I play on PC but has not downloaded an mod for this yet. Don't use them on my main character prefer Ariel's bow.
In addition to the slow rate of fire who is realistic the stupid forced reload after shooting is not but scary dangerous if the enemy fires back.
I would prefer even slower reload time but click once to reload second time to fire.

Do you have an link to the mod?
Hoping of something who only let you craft it everywhere but still require the quests to get the updates.

It's not a mod, I simply used console commands. See, in order to optimize my character (and actually roleplay better), I port my PC to the...well, PC every once in a while. I thought that it was stupid that I couldn't find any of the crossbow schematics or really do much of anything crossbow related, so I simply gave myself millions of bolts, crossbows, etc. to make up for the inability to craft them. I also made myself as tall as an Altmer, despite being a Breton. I've always liked the idea of a hybrid race.
