Crossbow Sights

I haven't seen anything implemented in the Demo videos, but will Crossbows have sights you can aim down? Videos just show the camera zooming in slightly.

It'll probably be the way it was in the demos.

There are no sights. The zooming in is the Eagle Eye perk.

Well we don't have sights for our bows, so why add them for crossbows? Surely the white reticule will do just fine.

I doubt they'll include them, it's too first-person-shootery.

They're a lot closer to guns than Bows are. And give that Bethesda has experience with sights from New Vegas, I don't see why it would be hard to implement.

I'll be happy either way, though. :tes:

Obsidian.

Bethesda had a part in some aspects too. They added Joshua Graham's animations to test AI interaction with the environment during Dialogue.

You guys are thinking about it too much as "Noooo don't make skyrim an FPS".

Think of it in realistic terms. Would you really fire a Crossbow from the hip?

In Skyrim, of course I would.

+1.

We don't get behind the arrow to shoot bows, so why should we for crossbows?

Perhaps if Beth made FPS an option you could disable then we appease everybody.

EDIT: Mind you it's a lot of work to Fallout-ify Skyrim.

Given how bolts and arrows arc sights couldd make aiming more difficult. And it certainly wouldn't function in conjuction with the eagle eye perk.

Actually, you kinda do.

But I can't do anything about the "I won't be realistic because it's skyrim" argument. So whatever.

Maybe make it so you can't aim without Eagle Eye.

And sights can be altered to compensate for Arcing. That's how Grenade Launcher sights work.

You kinda do, just like the crossbow from the demo kind zoomed with the Eagle Eye perk.

I really don't see how comparing bows to crossbows is a valid argument. One uses man-power while the other is mechanical-power, they're two very different aspects of ranged weaponry.

If skyrim were more realistic in the since where you actually had to look down the arrow knocked in a bow and calculate by skill and instinct where the arrow would go then i would be all for sights on the crossbow. But Skyrim just isnt that way, It would be interesting and I'm sure a mod will probably attempt it.

Nope, no aiming down your sights.
It will be just like bows...one button to shoot and other to "punch" with it making opponents stagger, with no default zoom...when you get the eagle perk then you got the option to zoom.

That's fine for me...

I really don't see them making this change.

And just what do you imaging crossbow sights looked like in real life?

Iron Sights discussion in the Elder Scrolls...
This has got to be some sort of variant of Godwins Law.

Honestly, I kinda hope I CAN aim a crossbow properly. I imagine there's some sort of firing aid on there to help us line up our shots.

Not in a video game. Sights are manually altered based on the distance of the target but the game couldn't be sure whom you're aiming at.

Have you used bows in Skyrim up to this point successfully? Yes? Then you don't need a different set of sights for a crossbow. You can argue all you like how different the mechanics of using one in real life are- this is not real life. Whether your character wields a greatsword or a battleaxe, two very unique and different fighting styles, you still use the same sights. Why do they need to implement something different now? Answer: they don't.

in one of the gameplay vids theres a second where they show the crossbow being fired in 1st person...you appear to look down the crossbow but theres no iron sights, only the current crosshair to aim with

You've got to love how these people have obviously never fired a real bow and don't realise it is already in first person. So.. why not have iron sights for crossbows it makes tons of sense.. of wait I forgot;

We're all al Capone

"Everyone fire your tommy guns in such a fashion you miss every bullet!"

"Great Idea boss! Everyone! FROM THE HIP!!"

Why do they need to implement something different now? Answer: they don't.

That seems to be the post of one that doesn't want to challange a dev to make a better game.
