Crossfire Flicker, Flash, Flickering, Flashing in Esc Menu a

No overclocking and no mods.

When Crossfire is disabled, all the following issues go away. I've tried playing with other settings (Aniso, No Aniso, MSAA, FXAA, CSAA, No AA, Vsync + TriBuffering, no Vsync) and nothing changed. I didn't try all combinations, but it seems like only disabling Crossfire fixes the problem.

The Character (Tab) menu is fine, but the Main (Esc) menu cause flickering of the game view behind the menu (often yellowish), though the menu itself looks fine. In the showracemenu, the faces flicker. Sometimes it looks as if it's quickly running through the different layers (diffuse, specular, etc). If I go through several warpaints, it looks like it's flickering back and forth between the current and previous selection. If I set it back to no warpaint, then it will flicker between warpaint and no warpaint.

Edit: If I go into third person and look back at my character's face, it is flickering just like in the showracemenu.

I've only just started playing, so these are the only observations I've made so far. I've read about flickering shadows related to the day/night cycle, but I think that's a completely unrelated problem. I haven't had a chance to check if I have that problem as well.

I get the same flickering issues. I'll try disabling crossfire. I don't think Skyrim works with crossfire anyway, does it?

Skyrim Crossfire on 11.12's as well as 12.1 preview's is borked. I know 'cause I've tried them both. Revert to 11.11c performance and you'll get your Crossfire back with no issues.

The flickering is caused by the CAP you installed and also some newer drivers have this profile too, their "built-in" profiles are using something similar to "Fallout 3" for crossfire which is the cause of the flickering, i'd say uninstall the CAP alone and reboot.

You can also try the .dll http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FVKL3ILA copy the dll into Skyrim folder, it uses the CFX profile for Oblivion and gives nice fps scaling.

Or, Radeon Pro to force another CFX profile for Skyrim (Oblivion)

Btw i'm using 12.1 preview (no caps) on my 4870x2 and i get stable fps 60+ everywhere and without any flicker, CTD, stuttering etc.. and 70-99% GPU usage on both. I do not need atiumdag.dll anymore, same performance now.

Good drivers so far, fixed 90% or the games that broken CFX since 10.5's, well for me at least.

Performance for me has been good..but I know it could be better.

So how do you remove the caps? is it in the add/remove programs list? (not at home right now to look for it.) I have all the same problems that the OP has stated, and am using the same graphics cards (and drivers/ccc). I really want to get rid fo the stuttering (mainly when turning) adn the yellow flickering on the local map/ESC menu.

I used RadeonPro to force the Crossfire profile to Oblivion and it completely worked!

Amazingly, however, this somehow inteferes with SKSE. Once in game, I brought up the SkyUI inventory to remove my character's mask to see if the face was still flickering. I was going to type in the name of the item using SkyUI's filter, but my typing was ignored and triggered other game things, like opening the journal, etc. Then I noticed on the right side of my screen a message from SkyUI that SKSE could not be detected.

So I exit the game, and in RadeonPro I set it to no longer override the Crossfire profile by selecting the first entry in the list of profiles which is empty (which is how it was before I changed it the first time). I go back into Skyrim and SKSE and SkyUI are working fine again. However, the flickering is still fixed, so this made me wonder if SKSE not working was a fluke and if I had succesfully turned he profile back to normal. So I switch RadeonPro to the Oblivion profile again, and once again SKSE stops working. I set it to the first, empty entry for profiles again, and once again SKSE and SkyUI are working and the flickering is long gone.

So to sumarise, the steps that worked for me are: (1) Set RadeonPro to force the Oblivion Crossfire profile on Skyrim, (2) Run the game, see that flickering is fixed but SKSE is not working, (3) Set RadeonPro to no longer override by selecting the first entry in the profile list which is the blank entry. And this third step probably only matters if you're actually using SKSE.

So I'm not sure exactly why this all worked, but it did. I hope others have the same amount of luck!

skyrim doesnt have any good ATI crossfire drivers

its best to disable it or use the driver that disables it for u


its funny coz using 1 card works much smoother than 2

typical bethesda, i sked pete if the game supported multiple cards and he never replied after many times me asking

at that point i knew it wasnt gonna happen

@Senzin, Have you tried atiumdag.dll? basically works the same as Radeon Pro but it shoul play well with steam, SKSE etc since it's only a .dll.

@Skullmount4 No, not anymore since 12.1 drivers, but all drivers before that, it was an absolute must. And yes you remove the CAPS in the add/remove programs list and reboot.

About time they put custom driver profiles in the CCC (12.1), so now i can disable CFX for specific games that willl never ever get CFX scaling ie: SC2, WoW, Serious Sam3 etc, users had to resort to disable cfx all together or use 3rd party apps.
