CRTL+Q Snap Reference Issue

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 8:29 pm

Hey guys,

I'm very new to the CK, I have been going through the tutorial tonight. I have got to the part where he introduces "snap reference" the shift-q command.

Like he says, I move one of the corners of my skewed room away and try and fit it back with snap turned on... it doesn't work, as is expected.

So, I press shift-q like explained and the crosshair appears, I hover it over a peice in the skewed room and it turns white, and I click.

Now I try to fit my peice back into place, but nothing has changed it still rotates to the global grid and I can't get it to rotate to fit back with the room. Am I missing something? I can't seem to figure out what I have done wrong.

Help appreciated, thanks.

Edit: I'm aware I made a mistake here, it is shift-Q, however it was a typing mistake I'm doing the right keys in the editor.

Edit With Solution: Okay I found a solution, just incase anyone else gets confused like me. After setting a reference, before you rotate your out of sync peice, select it and press crtl-k or right click-edit-reset rotation. Then it will work. Good luck!

Or, after picking a snap-to reference, just rotate the object by right clicking with the rotation-snap turned on (Control Q). It will then snap right in.

That is what I was doing and it was ignoring my reference, until I reset the rotation, and *then* rotated it, it used the reference then and snapped right in.
