CTD Cottonwood Cove

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:52 pm

Couldn't find a related topic, but every time I get close to Cottonwood Cove, in 2 different playthroughs, I experience a CTD, it happens just outside of Ranger Camp Echo, Sniper's Nest, and the Gold Mine East, I've tried to go around it but it seems to be just a giant area of crashing :/ not quite sure what to do at this point.

Have you tried visiting the area using a different save? Maybe your current save is partly corrupt, which can happen when you allow too many quicksaved positions to be stacked upon each other.

I've experienced the exact same problem in two different playthroughs, I restarted my game specifically because I was being told to go to Cottonwood Cove but was unable to, so finally catch up to that point in my second playthrough and same problem :/ Also this is the only CTD error I've had (both saves got to level 20) both with about 16 hours of playtime.

Sadly, that solution didn't work :( same issues, tried saves going back from level 8 through 20 now. Still same CTD in every save.
I've also tried fiddling with the graphics settings with no change.

compy specs are

Sapphire ATI Radeon 4850 1gb vram
4GB DDR2-800 ram
AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.40ghz Processor
Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit OS
drivers are all up to date as is Windows.

Verified integrity of steam files and steam, haven't tried uninstalling reinstalling it yet.

if you click the downwards arrow on the crash report, what is the faulty module?

edit: forgot to ask, did you install the directx files when installing the game? and when installing new ati drivers, did you install them over the older ones or used driver cleaner (in safe mode) before installing the new ones?

I'm not getting a proper crash report when it crashes, just says that windows is looking for a solution then close program

dont remember if i installed the directx files when i installed the game. And yes I used driver sweeper in safe mode before installing the new ones. Going to try uninstalling reinstalling fallout new vegas now.

EDIT: Resolved! Had to reinstall Fallout New Vegas, fixed the problem
