I actually stopped my crashing by setting my CPU clock speed back to its defaults, apparently Skyrim does not like overclocked CPUs! :tes:

in this folder -> open "SkyrimPrefs"

search bSaveOnTravel=1 and change it to bSaveOnTravel=0

Is this for people that are crashing when the fast travel? I assume that is what SaveOnTravel means. I crash during conversations, looting, walking around, etc. Just verifying when you were seeing CTD issues before.

For me it helps for all CTD. Before i changed it, my game crashes in the same way like yours do.

More than likely the turning off of Xfire is what fixed it -- Beth games have always had problems with using any other program that takes control even for a few seconds when they are running -- so the save on fast travel is probably safe to turn back on if you want !

Holy crap I think this worked. I played for an hour without a crash. I will report back if it starts happening again. Thanks a lot for the info

Bethesda's recommendation to change the Windows Audio setting to 24bit 44100hz seems to have worked for me. I don't CTD very often. Maybe once a night (4+hrs gaming)?

Worked like a charm. I have not had a crash to desktop since I changed bSaveOnTravel=1 to bSaveOnTravel=0. Amazing catch. Thanks again for the information! You saved the game for me.

Is editing this .ini option the same as disabling saving on travel in-game? Because I've tried disabling the option in-game and I still get frequent crashes. :(

Sry i dont know it exactly. I would say you just try to disable it in the .ini.

It's the same as disabling it in-game.
