CTD on trading cards

I am getting repeated and consistent crashes whenever purchasing playing cards from merchants. Ammo, weapons, apparel etc don't seem to cause an issue. This is obviously a game breaker for me, which just adds to the mild sense of disappointment I'm feeling after playing NV for a few hours. The choppy framerate issues and autosave problems were no surprise; I'd prepared myself to expect exactly these problems with NV as a veteran of Oblivion and FO3. The fact that there are so many other annoying bugs, some related to Steam (steam cloud - caused CTDs) and some to the new content like the cards issue is the main source of my general pee-ed-offness.

My overall impressions of the game are slightly negative as well. I don't mind the fact that the game uses the same engine and graphics as FO3; in fact I'm pleased as it allows me to use mods from FO3 easily. What disapoints me is that bugs like the crap stuttering and CTD's have been carried over from FO3. No doubt the stutter problems will be fixed by the modding comunity, as will the poor models and textures carried over from FO3. I simply can't believe that the developers are oblivious to the body / face /hair /armour and clothing models and textures that are available from the FO3 modding community and haven't raised their game accordingly. This would be of no importance whatsoever if it weren't for the fact that the game feels like nothing more than a large DLC for FO3. New gameplay content and snappy writing and dialogue was what I was expecting from Obsidian, given their fantastic record with FO1 + 2. You've let me down you buggers ;)

I hadn't heard of ctd's from caravan, but this still might work for you also.

The main problem with caravan was it's not accepting the new cards properly. While not official patch is out there is a mod to fix it http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34855 There is a related mod http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35044 to make the cards sort better in your inventory. Try the first one and see if that fixes it though.

Thanks for the pointer Sytxferryman. The Nexus won't let me DL small files atm, but I'll report back if this fixes the issue when I'm able to DL. Cheers :)

Glad it worked. I was 50/50 on it working to resolve the ctd issue or not.

Beth does extensive testing prior to release on all the machines in their office and makes sure it works on those machines. Seriously... who knows? They never give up any specifics on their alpha and beta testing that I have seen so for all I know they don't and wait till complaints come in. Which in reality would save them allot of money, the programmers have to program anyways, just now they don't have to pay testers. I would love to know extensive details on this subject.

Obviously... whatever it is they are doing, it isn't working.
