CTD, weird Load Order issues

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 7:20 am

I think my problem is related to load order, but BOSS doesn't seem to be fixing that.
I have been avoiding coming here like the plague, nothing against you guys, I'm just not one to come running to a forum to write up a topic titled, "HELP ME!!! I'M MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVERYONE ELSE!!!", but I can't seem to solve the issue so I guess it's time I turn to someone to get help.
here's the load order

Spoiler
00  customGraph.esm----> Delinquent MASTER: Skyrim.esm01  Update.esm----> Delinquent MASTER: Skyrim.esm02  Skyrim.esm03  ApachiiHair.esm04  moonpath.esm05  Dark Dungeons for ENB.esp06  WATER - Get Wet.esp07  Weapons and Armor fixes - Hacks.esp08  Weapons and Armor fixes.esp09  FlameAtronachArmor.esp0A  FullBootForKKSA.esp0B  Realistic Lighting.esp0C  Better Dynamic Snow.esp0D  Natural Skyrim Rain.esp0E  Smithing Perks Overhaul - Balanced.esp0F  SoS - The Dungeons.esp  [Version 1.10]10  SoS - The Wilds.esp  [Version 1.0.1]11  Complete Crafting Overhaul.esp12  PISE.esp13  WATER.esp14  TheFlyteMod.esp15  custom female anims.esp16  CustomAniNords.esp17  Shadow Striping Fix.esp18  SleepingTreeSanctuary.esp  [Version 0.5]19  moonpath_questdata.esp1A  Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp  [Version 1.0]1B  Bashed Patch, 0.esp

Here's some detail on the problem:
I seem to be able to play for varying play times. At first, it was about 2 hours, which was plenty of time for me so it never bothered me, but as of recent it seems to happen fairly frequent, and very very frequent if I don't "pcb" occasionally. Without warning the game just shuts off. Window's doesn't give me any sort of error message, nothing. The game just closes. As of recent, it happened usually on fast travel, though it does do it on occasion when I am just wondering (even when not loading an interior cell)
One strange event, and the only time I have seen this, is that Skyrim actually sort of gave me a warning that it was about to close out by turning the textures on certain static objects in a dwemmer ruin...blue...
It has only done that once though, so that might not be related to this issue.

Brief side note;
Why is BOSS still called BOSS? Granted "BSSS" wouldn't really roll off the tongue as well.

One thing i see wrong is that your Skyrim.esm is not at the top.. try moving that to the first loaded.. that should fix the two Delinquent Master messages..

And Unofficial Skyrim Patch should be the first mod AFTER all of the .esm files. I suggest dowloading BOSS (it can be found on the Nexus site). You can run it to reorder the mods. It has a list of most of the known mods and puts them in order based on known issues/conflicts. That should take care of most of the problems seen with mods. Another is Wrye Bash. I have never used it myself but the more senior (experience, not age) modders on the forums swear by it, so you might want to give that a look as well. There should be link for it on Nexus as well.

Based on his mod listing he's using Wrye already.. never seen NMM mention delinquent masters or have a bashed patch file..

@MrFlyte.. I'd disable the bashed patch.. the functionality for it isn't finalized and I've seen it cause some weird errors before

WATER.esp and WATER get wet esp should be loaded last.
Several ctd issues involve Sounds of skyrim and WATER.

Heres what u should do.
1. Like others said, move skyrim.esm to load order ONE. Update.esm should be number TWO.
2.Place unofficial patch right after the final ESM file.
3. Place WATER.esp last. As for get wet, i have no idea sorry, but i assumed it should go after water.esp. Check the mod's site, opticshooter should state.
If you still get CTD, the first mod you should get rid of is WATER and WATER esp.
If you still get ctd after, get rid of sounds of skyrim.
If you find that you dont have ctd after getting rid of these two, put WATER back. If you did have ctd after putting water back, remove it and dont use it.

Lastly, check your sound card and see if sound settings is set to 24bit 44100 mhz(or was it hz)

If Boss doesn't change the load order automatically so that Skyrim.esm is at the top of the list, maybe your Wrye Bash is not up to date. This happened to me and a lot of weird issues happened. Here's a link to how to update to version 296 (message #447):

I had only recently decided to download Wrye in hopes it may solve the issue before turning to the forums. I also played around with the LO a little myself, but results never seemed to change much.
I do have boss, and it updates itself automatically (I think that's due to the NMM) which I had ran several times before. A lot has changed with BOSS since the Oblivion days, maybe I am not using it right. I figured it was still as simple as before (save for now pushing 0 or 1 for which game) where it would read the master list and move mods accordingly - of course all automatic.
I will play around with the recommend LO changes and see if the results are any better.

It's not such an easy task at the moment. BTW when installing Wrye Bash v296 use the instructions included with it. The instructions at the WEB page misses one step that was essential at least for me (the one where you delete some of the old files and replace with the ones supplied with the new version).

Well things seemed to have gotten worse since I moved everything proper in my LO. I turned off "Get Wet" because I really didn't care about that mod, I think it came with my water texture mod, figured I would activate it anyways. I will try turning off SOS, but preferably would like to keep those mods as well as WATER

unfortunately i was like you too, didnt want to lose WATER or SoS. I think the main culprit is still WATER though, but SoS might affect the ctd based on some sources from people.

I also had problems with WATER. Reverting to RWT (2 or 2.1, I think) made things a lot better. Looking at your mods, could it be that Smithing perks overhaul and CCO are causing conflicts. Also, I have found some custom armours don't play well with smithing mods.

All the crafting mods are necessary...for...one of the mods, I don't remember which, but I remember it saying in the readme "Requires: [these two mods]"
I convinced myself if I had to lose either SOS or WATER, that I would rather lose SOS, so I turned those off, as well as my own mod (TheFlyteMod) because I don't think it actually did anything. I was attempting to edit merchant chest but...well that's a story for another time, not related to this topic. Point is, it didn't work and was probably a dirty mod - since I didn't clean it. With those turned off...well I didn't play long after turning those off, but certainly things seemed smoother. Will update you guys if I have problems.

GOOD NEWS! Problem has been resolved (so a mod can lock the topic if they see fit to do so). It seems removing my mod and the SOS mods did the trick as well as rearranging a few things in the LO. Even better news is that I tried using a previous mod that caused the game to crash within 5 minutes and now it works perfectly fine!
Thanks for the help guys :)
