Cultist Build Suggestions?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:24 pm

I want to Role Play a Cultist(Not Daedric Worshipper) whilst keeping in mind they focus loosly on Necromatic Practices. I think they would minor in One Handed for sacrificial reasons. Any other ideas? Alchemy? Conjuration. Lol I am not a Cultist in real obviously hence I cannot decide what build to favor...

So... Conjuration, Sneak, 1H Weapons (Dagger focus), and likely Alteration, Restoration, and Illusion, right?

Any other info you can give as to what you're looking for?

I think they're being somewhat generic for the purposes of the build, so like with my merchant build, everything up to level 50 is likely to be the same - it's the 51-81 perks that focus on thematics.

If just a cult follower, doesn't matter, but a cult leader maybe should have speechcraft at least to persuade; depends whether rp means more than perks you may consider wasted.

A basic version of my character's personality: Ruthless, Has no Morals on mercy or torture. Hates being in public without cause and has sort of an Alter Ego which forms when he decides to go to Skyrim (Hence he was captured easily... The idea of it is he was already insane and wanted to become "better" in a sense) He is fascinated with the Dwemer and Hermaous Mora (sorry for spelling). So pretty much he is an insane Necromancer with an Alter Ego that presents itself when others are around and normally during the day.

Which cult?

In real? or in game? In real; I dont know of any... In game: A freelance for the most part. He hates everyone (excluding the extinct Dwemer)

RP in mind. A loner until the DLC is released and we will see if they have anything I can work with

I meant thematically. That nod to Hermaous Mora is good, but what else? Someone else asked if they were a cultist, or a cult leader. Or maybe they become one?

The question here is, up to 50 is easy, so what do we have for beyond that? Once you hit "epic level perks", 51-81, these tend to be perks that focus more on thematics than on combat. Bribery, intimidation, etc. Give me a bit more context with what this character becomes, the lore behind them. Personality is less of a focus compared to skill.

I might sort of being doing something similar. I'm a detective who is unfortunately easily influenced by the will of the daedra, intentionally or unintentionally depending on who it is, and I can only free myself by completing all the daedric quests. You may not be a daedra worshipper, but as a freelance cultist, you'll probably end up doing their bidding.

You probably do want be be a mage at the very least, since they study the most and magic actually is occult. Conjuration and destruction are a must. Due to your alter ego, illusion, and since you're probably manipulative use some frenzy spells. Restoration and/or alchemy is ok as a minor skill. You can either use alteration for mage armor if you want to go 'cloak and dagger' or get heavy armor, but IMO go alteration. Maybe sneak if you want take advatage of your dagger perks, it also contributes to your desire not to be seen - but if you do, also a minor skill.

I'm really wondering though, how do you define "better"?

Here's what I've got up to level 50:

http://skyrimcalculator.com/#138819

As for the build, I suggest a 3:4:3 ratio to Magica:Health:Stamina, though if you want to lean more mage-based, you could go 3:3:1 as well. Obviously, you'll want the Ritual stone. As for race, Dunmer makes most sense to me, as they have the most ties to necromancy, but I'm sure there's plenty of other lore-friendly options.

Idk that is why I am asking.. Idk.. I am basing loosly on what Real Life Cultist would use in there practises

He is still very much insane. This is a psychological concept of an Alter Ego. He is still just as dangerous but he is a lier. He tricks others into trusting him and when he hears something or see's something it sets his insanity off (Havent figured any Triggers yet that cause him to revert back to a Lunatic...)

Hmm Dumner are my favorite and Morrowind has a very large ancestry in Necromancy from the time of Viviec (apparently Morrowind has become slightly more Civil in that approach )
