Custom Ammo, Caps, Ranger Armor, and Stealthboys

I've got Fallout: New Vegas for the Xbox 360 and I have a few questions that I was hoping some members of the community might be able to answer for me.

1.) The Strategy Guide mentions craftable special hand loads however the only one I've been able to find is the .44 hand load that the guy in North Vegas Square can give you (but first I've got to get my Survival up to an insane level). Are there any other recipes out there for hand loads or do I have to wait for five years until the Vendortron finally stocks that .45-70 Government SWC Hand Load I've been waiting for?

2.) Caps. I need me some serious caps. In Fallout 3 I never seemed to have this problem (then again I barely went to vendors at all because I everything I needed I found on the battlefield) but in New Vegas I'm almost always poorer than a Freeside resident because the field doesn't supply my needs as well as it did in DC. Also there's the armor and unique weapons that I can't repair without serious caps (you'd think Raul would be so greatful for getting away from Tabitha that he'd AT LEAST give you a steep discount but noooo) and I don't think I'll be able to get Jury-Rigger this go round. So how do you guys make caps? I do have a steady income from looking the other way at Westside's water siphoning but 270 caps a day just ain't enough.

3.) What I imagine is the most asked question (or one of) on the forums. How do you get your hands on NCR Ranger Combat Armor without offing somebody? I don't know why, maybe its because its the closest thing to the good ol' US of A that Fallout has but except for certain individuals (yeah Capt. Curtis I'm looking at you ya Benedict Arnold) I can't seem to bring myself to kill NCR soldiers (except on my Ceasar save). Or maybe it's because when they die they won't disappear and have somebody respawn in their place so whenever I visit I'm reminded of the dirty deed but anyways is there a way to get NCR Ranger Combat Armor without killing the guy wearing it (and if there are Rangers who disappear after death I'd love to know that too). I know how to get the Patrol Armor when recovering the one Ranger's body for his wife but I want the whole wardrobe.

4.) Finally, where are all the Stealthboys? I've only found 4 in the 30 hours I've been playing this one save and I'd like to know where to find more. Especially since apparently the only way to complete I Put A Spell On You without the train blowing up (stupid bug) is to stealth boy up to him and pickpocket the Deactivation Card. So where have you guys found them.

Answers to any of these questions would be most appreciated. Also how useful is Cassidy and is she supposed to have a default ranged weapon because all I've seen her with is a cleaver and I refuse to give her anymore .357 ammo. If not that useful or it's just me encountering her without a firearm then I may end up giving her up to Jean-Baptiste after all.

For Stealthboys, I recommend that you check these thread out:

In any event, it's best to try and limit your usage of them since there's few of them so only use'em when it's strictly necressarilly, such as in I Put A Spell On You and You Can Depend on Me (assuming your character isn't already stealth-oriented).

Yeah, there's several hand loading recipies. I think you need the hand-loader perk to actually use them though.

2.) Caps. I need me some serious caps. Gambling. I make tons of money at blackjack. Also, repairing stuff for sale works pretty well, especially if you have jury rigging so you can repair high end expensive guns and stuff with low end crap.

3.) What I imagine is the most asked question (or one of) on the forums. How do you get your hands on NCR Ranger Combat Armor without offing somebody? Lure an enemy to somewhere with ranger vets. Example, if you can lure some huge radscorpions to camp golf after ranger vets start spawning (after you get the first faction quest, ie "For the Republic"), they'll probably kill a ranger.

Alternatively, you can reverse-pickpocket a suit of power armor and helmet onto the ranger, leave the cell, and when you get back, he should be wearing the power suit, allowing you to pick pocket the combat armor off of him.

The only other option is to use mods, which unfortunately aren't open to you on the xbox.

4.) Finally, where are all the Stealthboys? I've only found 4 in the 30 hours I've been playing this one save and I'd like to know where to find more. Nightkin corpses (esp in Repconn test site) will often have them. Unfortunately, they're pretty rare in general. I don't think I ever found more then twelve.

Cassidy, like all companions, is pretty useful, especially as a pack mule. She's also adorable, in a "hard exterior but soft interior" sort of way. By default, she's got a caravan shotgun which has infinite ammo, though I've found she's pretty good with all non-heavy guns. She's no Boone when it comes to fighting, but she's pretty good.

i think i may have something for the last one. if you drop a peice of dynamite near someone and shoot it, itll explode and you wont get in trouble. (for some reason they think it blew up on its own)

caps: get a high repair, get the jury rigger perk, repair your plasma weaponry with laser rifles, repair your very rare anti material gun with lousy wasteland guns, youll never need a repair again. ammo may be a bit different though.

im suspecting that your caps issue is with repairing. if not, then kill fiends. they got alot of good stuff. repair it all in one (cause its usually always pretty broken, or pretty heavy)

stealthboys? i have no idea. i dont find much either. maybe the nightkin are using them all.

edit: i didnt know nightkin dropped stealthboys, every time i kill one they drop concrete hammers.

1) You only get the 6 special hand loads after you take the Hand Loader perk. I love the perk myself because the hand loaded ammo, once you figure the ridiculously overly complicated interface, is awesome.

2) Caps? Steal and sell everything that isn't nailed down and sell it. Gamble (if your luck is decent). Play Caravan, particularly against vendors. Sell all the ammo you don't use. Repair your own stuff. The costs to repair things in NV are astronomical and never get better. Put a lot in Repair. The Jury Rigging perk rules the world but you need 90 Repair (if I remember correctly) and you might as well push it to 100 if you want to hand load .50 Match Rounds. An important thing to remember in this game as opposed to FO3? You can repair any item to 100% no matter what your repair level is. The higher your Repair the more condition you get out of every item you use to repair your items.

3) You can luck out like I did and just run into a group of Rangers fighting Deathclaws at Quarry Junction. They got wiped out and one had the armor on. Otherwise, the only way I know of getting it without killing a Ranger Vet is one scripted instance in the MQ. One will get killed in front of you. You can grab his armor then. Importantly, the armor only starts showing up once you advance the main quest enough (generally doing any one of the MQ quests after Vegas). Also, from a straight practicality standpoint MK II Reinforced Combat armor is better. Same DT but it is lighter and has higher HP.

4) Honestly, I don't know. I have 5 in my inventory and I know I've sold a bunch at level 23 but I don't even know where I picked them up. I never use them so they're just caps to me.

First off give that ho up! (cassidy that is) I did asap because she brings nothing to the table.

Nightkin have the stealthboys and in order to get them I'm almost sure you have to sneak attck them. Easily done on the mountain (where the crazy witch lives) with two companions, Boone and ED-E. ED-E is found in Primm and Boone is found in Novac.

RANGER ARMOR: Go to Camp McCarren into the terminal building, top floor, thru the concourse, you will find a lady NCR private on your left. Talk to her and take her quest. She will ask you to find her husbands body and bring it back for proper burial. She marks his location on the map so all you have to do is show up and pillage his corpse. Then drag his a** to REPCONN HQ for the quest XP.

As for caps. I find it's best to pick up certain items, repair them and sell them. I'ts worked for me so far with a repair of 70. I buy all the upgrades to the weapons that I dont even have yet. Doing quests for the traders or carevans earns caps too. If you get you speech to 50 asap you'll get alot more caps during quests and other ordeals.

Maybe the reason I have so many caps is that I took the RELOADER perk early on. Best perk to save some caps and improve your combat. The Hunting weapons work great with hand loads. Also, its definitely worth taking the SURGICAL perk and beefing up a HUNTING SHOTGUN. One shot kill for almost anything within a reasonable distance. MAGNUM buckshot smokes light aromor and 12 Ga slugs will take down whatever. Make sure your DT is high and you'll be a walking tank.
