Cutting back on save bloating?

So I play Skyrim on my Xbxo 360 and recently a friend mentioned that there is apparently a small trick for making unwanted bodies/items/arrows clean up/reset/dissapear from your game by simply starting a new game and then loading the old one (since apparently the 30 day cell reset doesn't always work right and some stuff just refuses to go away).

My first question is obviously: Does this work?

My second is: If it does, do I just start new game and load up my old one immediately or do I wait until the whole Character creation process or do I need to play all the way to the point that I escape Helgen by leaving the cave with Ralof?

If this doesn't work I suppose I can always simply transfer my file to the PC and use a mod to clean up the world before transferring back to my Xbox (something I used to do for the Ash/goo piles in Fallout 3/New Vegas) but that method is a bit of a pain and I figure if there is an easier way that doesn't involve me needing to borrow a PC copy from a friend and go through the whole process then I might as well try it.

Thanks for any help guys.

Haven't tried that one but I camped in my house and waited for 30 in game days to allow some clean up and my file size went from 19mb down to 15mb.

I will have to try this. I was 20 meg before 1.6, then the first save after was 19 meg. Then the next saves (up to 200 saves later, and 565 hours total to level 81) have been 17 meg.

It is very laborious to wait 30 days though...

Waiting or sleeping for 30 days is very tedious. You can fast travel back and forth between two far away places to make time pass faster. It takes 26 hours to go from Riften to Markarth for example.
