Daedric and Glass armors.

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:05 am

Are friggin' impressive looking. They just look so much more... proportional to me. On top of looking clearly more badass, unique, rare, and elegant. Very, very impressed with these two sets of armors.

Now dragonbone/scale armor on the other hand... It looks pretty good, but I can't stand either of the helms. They're too big. Makes the armor look too disproportional and awkward. Brings me back to Oblivion. Solution? Just wear the armor.

What's your guys' thoughts on the higher tier armor?

I roleplay so the daedric doesn't really work for me, because if a Daedra walked into town, guards would most likely attack. It does however look totally BA, but I stick with the ebony because I think it looks more realistic and cool. "The Black Knight"

Glass just rocks, its not a weird bright green, it actually blends fairly well with the background (the outdoors). Which makes it a perfect fit for my Ranger type character.

Skyrim hands down wins in the armor department as all of it looks awesome. Dragon armor looks dumb to me.

I don't like the way any helm looks on my khajiit, so I always just wear the armor pieces. I wear dragon scale when I'm out adventuring, glass in towns and the blades' armor when I'm hunting dragons with them.

Daedric certainly looks badass, but it's way too flashy and out of place for me. Cool if you're roleplaying Dark Lord Sauron I suppose. I prefer the lesser equipment, Leather, Iron, and Steel all look great. Iron/Steel set also scream Dragonborn to me. Love how robes look in this game as well, they're well done. No complaints on any armor here, except the helmets on the Dragon Armors, as someone said already.

Edit: Although, I wish staves would show, like they did in Oblivion. And I notice this game has alot less in terms of un-enchanted Robes as well. Another thing that does bother me is how you can wear Masks/Circlets with Hooded Arch-Mage Robes, but not with Hooded Blue Robes and the sort.

Actually, no worries that Dragonplate looks ugly, as Daedric is stronger anyway. As for light armor... Well, Glass is not so much worse, especially if you improve it.

I wear Daedric most of the time, but Glass is cool. I like the way it looks.

I hate the shoulderplates and the helmet on daedric, I can't stand using it in 3rd person, the shoulderplates are so over the top. Glass I just think looks kinda wierd, I prefer dragonscale, for my helmet I just use a dragon priest mask.

Daedric: Way to spiky for my tastes.

Glass: Looks like I'm an autobot when I wear it.

I'll just stick to my wolf armor and steel plate.

I like Skyrim's glass armor well enough. It also matches decently with elven armor pieces, if I don't have full glass yet (happens to me a lot, as I generally don't follow the left side of the tree for Smithing. Though oftentimes I'll just go with full scaled armor, as I like that too.

I'm also pretty fond of dragonscale... dragonbone, not so much.

Playing mage I stuck solely to robes.
Playing as an assassin I stuck with Thief gear and then transitioned to Nightingale. I got really annoyed with the nightingale and lack of decent enchantments and proceeded to mod it so its non-enchanted and enchanted it to my personal liking.

I have just started using the Glass Armor this week, at least for my Light Armor. When it comes to heavy Armor I have been using Ebony as my preferred set, although I did just get a complete set of Daedric Armor recently. Took a lot of Dungeoneering to find it though. I know I could just make it, but there is just something special about using Armor you have found on Quests or taken off fallen enemies.

I like glass weapons but armor is way to cartoonish... I hate the superhero look it gives. I'm still sticking to my savior's hide with scaled bracers/boots/helmet. I love the nordish look of it. I'm not to worried about the low AR (~250 with perks but w/o smithing bonuses) because, except forsworn briarhearts and some high level Falmer I can win melee fighting easily even against a couple of Draugr Deathlords at the same time.

I have to diasgree with you there. Dragon Bone & Dragon Scale looks epic & Sublime in all it's archaic way and very fiitting to the story. On the other hand Daedric & Glass looks purely decorational. Although bit more fur on the dragon bone would it made it perfect.

my girl character doesn't like any armor that makes her look bigger than she is. Does my butt look big in this armor? LOL

she prefers to show off her assets in forsworn armor.

if you're RPing and want the daedric armor, maybe it's a wise decision to contract the vampirism disease just cause when it's full-blown, people just attack you - that will solve the "Daedra going into town" XP

What I want to know is how the average person knows what a Daedra looks like.

I'd say that if anything, people would simply be afraid/wary of a mysterious stranger coming to town wearing an intimidating-looking magical armor.

Honestly, I wonder if the Daedric and Dragon Priest masks weren't inspired by Glen Cook's Black Company books, and some of the original cover art.

Don't know if I agree, but loved those books.

On the OP's question. I dislike Daedric, Glass and Dragonbone. I like some orcish parts, steel plated, steel and wolf armor.
For Skyrims tone and setting I would like some steel armor or ebony style colored to match steel, with a ragged cloak or wrap. Something grittier, a more distressed look. I'm in a beat up tin can, wrapped in weather worn cloth because its harsh and cold in the north kind of thing.

Shameless reference...

In those days the Dragonborn was in the service of Tidus Mede II...
