Daedric Arrows

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 11:19 pm

An ode to the person who suggested to pickpocket the steel arrows from the guards in Solitude and replace them with one daedric arrow! I now have 300 daedric arrows. Once I run low, I just head to Solitude, stick around the Castle Dour training yard and collect my arrows from the archery target!

Here is a quick Haiku for the helpful stranger!

My Daedric Arrows
Never run out or deplete
Thanks to a stranger

That's not a Haiku as it doesn't have a reference to a time of year.

That is not the definition of a Haiku. I wonder where you got that from?

But anyway:

I thought I tried to do this in solitude. I put the daedric arrow on the guards after removing their other ones. They merrily kept shooting steel arrows. Was it fixed in
patch 1.3 on the xbox?

My way to get them is to give Mjoll one, as well as my dead thrall Thalmor soldier lady. Then I also got 4-10 from various of those dwarven centurian guys. I
was up to 200 and some, then down to 65 now after raising archery some (then I got the bright idea to use other arrows to do that...)

--------------------

Just tried again, to check:

The guards are shooting arrows, in solitude, but they don't have steel arrows ON them (though steel arrows are going into the target.)

I put a daedric arrow on each one, with pick pocket.

They merrily continue shooting only steel arrows.

I don't know why.

Yea, yea, but I won't level pickpocket that way or get the thrill of stealing from sleeping guards hahahaha ;)

Well, I considered that. So I guess we should call it a Senryu. ;)

You show the Daedric arrow as equipped? Weird. Was that a known Xbox issue before? I just made sure I took the steel arrows from all the sleeping guards. There's one that appears now and then, who has Steel arrows equipped, but he's always the 2nd guard who just stands there and never shoots. LOL He just looks at the other guard.

Funny thing is, I was running around Solitude using Whirlwind Sprint yesterday and after using it like 3 times, a guard came up to me and asked me to stop shouting. So, I told him "whatever" and then went back to the archery range to collect more arrows. Now the 2nd guard who never shoots arrows and just stands there, was actually shooting arrows, since the first one left his post to warn me. LOL Once he was back, he began to practice again and the other guard stopped. Wonder if it's scripted that always just ONE guard could train archery? lol

LOL "Dead Thrall Thalmor Lady" hahahahaha I love it. That's the only thing they are good for! =p

Just as another reminder...

You can also shot one or two at a draugr or a bandit archer and they equip them as they are better than what they were using... Then just dodge and collect. Ive collected 1600 ebony and 800+ daedric that way. I find this more fun.

Oh, hahaha yea, I do notice that those are equipped after looting them, but never thought to collect arrows that way. So you collect the ones that miss you? You have to be in an area where arrows are very visible though. I've lost a few Daedric arrows I shot past a Draugr, because I wasn't able to pick them up later. They either blend in so well with the area or are "swallowed" by the floor. LOL

Lol. Yeah.... I collect the ones that miss me. And youre right, its best to be somewhere narrow with hard walls and floors. And when you notice the arrows are being swallowed by the floor or walls, save then load the save. That should fix the game from eating the projectiles. Lol.

I heard this works better with the thieves guild archers because they shoot faster, but I don't know they ever sleep or allow you to pickpocket their steel arrows and replace them with daedric.

I gotta raise my archery so I'll have to get into the habit of collecting the good arrows.

I just swapped their arrows out while they were shooting. Now whenever I'm in Solitude or the Thieves Guild I have arrows to collect

Doesn't it take away from the gameplay experience to just run around with the "best stuff" or using the console to get what you want?.
Personally i do just fine switching between Ancient Northern Arrows and Steel Arrows while saving all arrows which are higher dmg
until i need them, like boss fights.

I don't bother. Skill doesn't seem to affect the damage of the arrows, so you're talking about a mere 4 points better than Ebony, which is available in vast quantities off vendors, legitimately, and more importantly, faster.

But this way, they're free and ALWAYS available.

And what good is building up your pickpocket if you're not going to use it?

I worked hard to get my pickpocketing to 100. So getting deadric arrows for free is my reward.

Does anyone know if these techniques still work after the new patch, as I heard that this patch "fixed" these.

I just worked on my archery skill and multiplied my Daedric arrows shooting at a target in Falkreth on the 1.4 patch.

My guards reverted back to their Steel arrows for some reason, so I had to sneak back into the barracks and steal all their arrows again LOL They are all using Daedric arrows again and I even had BOTH guards shooting at the targets in Solitude the other day! I was like sweet! I got over 400 Daedric Arrows now LOL I need to do that with my new toon, but here pick pocket skill needs some more practice. OH now that would be good practice... LOL

I guess that's why, because of the patch! They fixed the archers! And that's why they were back on steel arrows! So yea, it still works, since I just did that the past Saturday (2/4/12)

I found 12 in some dungeon. You can't buy them as far as I'm aware. For the longest time I was using Ebony arrows.

I have bought a couple, I believe they sold one daedric arrow twice at the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun, however I found a daedric bow at the Solitude Fletcher, but didn't buy it since they were trying to charge me over 5000 gold for something I can easily make. However I found 11 daedric arrows in a Dwarven Centurion at level 50 I believe.
