damn crashes

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 12:46 pm

i have a amd phenom 2 3.2ghz quad core processor
8 gigs ddr3 1600 ram (2 4 gig sticks)
gtx 460 1gb graphics card with latest nvidia driver

when i pause it says its version 1.3.7.0 is this the LAA version or do i need to update further?

Running vanilla on ultra settings (no mods) with lots of .ini tweaks like ugrids 9 and such, basically greatly increasing my distant view.

game runs fine, no crashes or anything, tho i do get slight pulsing after the .ini tweaks, not enough to be a stutter, but a sorta pulse, best i can describe it

the moment i add

serious hd landscape textures
vurts flora skyrim overhaul
lush grass/trees/vurts compatibility patch
and better rocks
enb series patch (with vendor adn device id's)

the game starts crashing every 10 seconds or so...i can only assume this would be running out of memory? which i dont see how considering i have 8 freaking gigz of ram and my videocard is a 1gb.

just looking for thoughts here...im confused honestly as before i reformated my drive this allw orked fine at about 30-35 fps

whats annoying is when i do them one at a time, (install each mod) the games fine, then i add the .ini and the game CTD's every 10 seconds or so, and will KEEP doing it even after i get rid of the .ini tweaks and go back to the basic one.

this is with me selecting new game every time, CTD whiel riding the cart at different points.

ugrid 9 is a pretty savage taxer on everything, hopefully at least its also setup to buffer 100 cells. But yah ugrid is a monster and will amplify the needs of every other setting and I'm not really that surprised that a GTX460 can't run ultra settings with a 9 ugrid. I play at 11/144 myself and even that is pretty brutal, even made a thread to document my adventures in trying to reach 13 and the coveted 15 but no go, mah hardware simply cannot take it without tramendous amounts of instability.

ED: Er right and something to keep in mind is once you've raised the ugrid your save games based on that are now expecting that much room, might explain why removing that value is causing your further complications. Basic take away from this: Before experimenting with ugrid make a proper save game file and ensure you thuroughly test at whatever you're playing with before commiting to it with your Skyrim'in.

Even on my computer(specs on sig) and it's barely playble with the default ugrid settings.
Turn that down if you want to actually play the game....

Dude seriously, you're using ugridstoload = 9, plus a tonne of texture packs, on a 1GB video card, and you're complaining about crashes? You can't get blood out of a stone lol ;)

You have a pretty decent rig, so you can probably run with ugridstoload = 7 with some mods and keep the game totally stable.

Or you could just stick with ugrids 9 and no mods, so long as you don't mind the occasional crash and the pulsing you are describing.

Adding more ram, gpus, cpu cores or whatever will never scale evenly. Bigger numbers with diminishing results is the name of the game in pc hardware, and we are all being played.
