Dark Brotherhood, automatic bounty

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 9:25 am

Back in Oblivion, a few assassination targets were very difficult to take care of without incurring a bounty. Fortunately, it was more than possible through the use of poisoned apples and whatnot. In Skyrim, however, it seems a few events (particularly the purge) are scripted in such a way that it is impossible to avoid incurring a bounty.

Can anyone confirm that this is the case? If not, how do I avoid getting a bounty in, say, the encounter right after the fake emperor dies? I've considered transforming into a werewolf, but the wiki says that you can't talk to NPCs as a werewolf...:-X

That encounter you are betrayed and given to the Commander's care before you even begin the mission. Of course, there is going to be a bounty. Now, it is a very useless bounty, because you can just pay it off and you are back to normal. Only is 1-2k gold, so by this time it should not be that big of a deal to pay off.

Even with a perfect escape using invisibility, the bounty is added (as I found out),

It's an easy fine to pay... just make sure you dump your stolen goods off in a chest before doing these sorts of missions or creating separate save files before every mission. It does seem like a bit anti-dark brotherhood to be caught :\

Ah...that's annoying, but I suppose it makes sense that way. Of course, that also raises the question of why the hell it is even possible to pay the bounty in the first place. I figured regicide would pretty much count as an unforgivable crime.

Blech.

It wasn't the sum of bounty I was worried about anyway. I have this weird compulsion, particularly with my "main characters," to keep a clean character sheet whenever possible. (silly things in Oblivion like 0 lockpicks broken) 0 liftetime bounty was one of them. Guess I'll have to give that one a pass this time around.

That's why I gave up with my first character that completed the DB quests. The bounty system does not seem to work that well, just spend half your time trying to avoid guards in cities, but guards can detect you from a fair distance away if your bounty is high enough.

I just found the bounty system just made it a complete waste of time (as it is atm).
