Dark Brotherhood - Kill the Emperor?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 6:45 am

I was watching YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsHaNou43OE&feature=relmfu) and found that DBHood gets a quest to kill the Emperor? But who is the Emperor? Does Skyrim even have one? I thought there are only High King, who is already dead, and the Jarls. Who is the Emperor? Couldn't find it anywhere. I'm not joining DBHood on my cahracter, so I'm just wondering.

The Emperor of Tamriel, Titus Mede II.

You are thinking that Skyrim is the empire, but it is just a province of the continent of Tamriel.

The emperor is the Emperor of all of Tamriel. Then below the emperor would be the king of each province (High King of Skyrim for example), below the king would be the Jarls, dukes, counts, stuff of that sort.

Its a class system basically, used for better management/ control of lands etc.

It's a feudal system, yes. The Empire doesn't encompass all of Tamriel any more, though. Basically, the Empire as the game takes place is only made up by Cyrodiil, High Rock and Skyrim. The Thalmor control Summerset Isles -- now renamed Alinor -- and Valenvood. They have allies in Elsweyr.
Black Marsh -- now renamed Argonia? -- has invaded Morrowind. Hammerfell has broken off with the Empire and the war between Hammerfell and the Aldmeri Dominion has ended in the second truce at Stros M'Kai.

The Emperor ''rules'' over Skyrim, Cyrodiil, Morrowind, Elsweyr, High Rock, Hammerfell, Valenwood, Summerset Isle and the border parts of Black Marsh(since Black Marsh can't be lived in by other races than Argonians)... He is THE Emperor.. The boss, the bawws, the man... You get what i'm saying?

I did this quest in a wedding dress, and the only thing that could have made it more special is if I had the wabbajack at the time :)

Man I was in awe when I saw him. He was so awesome. I felt a bit bad for killing him though after he didn't fight back.

BTW you missed out on the best story line in the game

Really?

I've only turned Grelod the Kind into money that I spent later on moon sugar for alchemy.

I took great pleasure in killing him < mutters> damn b@st#&d).

If I recall correctly I tortured him for a while, then stabbed him, then proceed to burn his corpse. Good Times. I only wish I could have dragged his lifeless body off the boat, dumped it in the water and watch the Mudcrabs and Slaughterfish eat him. I then praraded through the streets of solitude wearing his charred clothes.

Only thing I think is confusing to people is the Guards will say "Did you hear the news? The Emperor of Skyrim is dead. These are troubled times my friend." I think the writers did a "Whoops there."

Honestly, no. Titus Mede II is a capable ruler, I'd just exterminate the DB.

I did kill the guy who hired me to off the emperor, though. Not because the emperor requested it, but because the client had seen my face... and, well, for such a big job, there should be no witnesses. ;)

I killed that guy who hired you right there in the Bannered Mare, with the door shut, and as soon as I did, Ulfberth War-Bear came through the wall like "Oh my! You just killed him!" and then Commander Caius opened the door and arrested me before I even managed to come out of sneak mode. :(

Don't you just hate that crap, when someone magically witnesses something they could not possibly have witnessed?

@TheColonel1977,

You should've worn the Ancient Shroud Armour. It has a masked hood. I killed him because I realised that I could get this armour long after the main line of DB quest was over, when I checked the Misc section of my journal.

The empire only consists of Skyrim, Cyrodiil and High Rock as of game time.

And what a disappointment he was. At least he took it like a man.

. Titus Mede II is a capable ruler.
I strongly disagree with that. In my opinion he was a very weak ruler. He signed the White-Gold Concordat even though there were many who rightfully believed that the Empire could have successfully continued fighting Thalmor (Hammerfell is a good example of this, a lone province but managed to majorly kick elven ass). During his reign the Empire lost the province of Hammerfall, he banned the worship of one of the most important gods, and it's because of his cowardliness that the civil war in Skyrim started.

In my opinion, if the emperor is assassinated, there is a strong chance that a more capable ruler will take his place. I believe that THAT's the reason he was assassinated in the first place. Some more determined noble ordered his hit in order to become emperor himself. The guy who gives you the quest even says when you come back that "you have done a great service to whole Tamriel."

Well, he didn't see my face in terms of my actual face, because I'm wearing Krosis' mask, but he could probably describe me, had I let him live. :)
