Dark Brotherhood Start Bug (Spoiler maybe?)

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 9:52 am

Hey guys, I started another character and I wanted to join the dark brotherhood on it, I've already done the quests before on another charcater so I knew what to expect, but this is the first time after killing the woman in the orphanage and completing to quest and the courier not come in a few (skyrim) days.

Now before you jump to conclusions, don't tell me to wait longer, because it's not working.
Here's a list of things I've done while waiting for the courier,

Advanced 20 levels
Completed Thieves Guild Quests
Completed Companion Quests
Completed Stormcloak Quests
Done tons of side-jobs for the Theives Guild to gain influence in other cities
Got Sneak to 100
Got Archery to 100
Got Pickpocketing to 100
Got Lockpicking to 100

Just to rub it in got 3 couriers about COMPLETELY different things (inheritence, etc.)

Completed nearly every daedric quest (including boethia's)
And alot more.

After all this it's clear that it's obviously not a matter of just waiting some more. apart from doing that, I have spent 3 (skyrim) days waiting in each hold for the courier so I don't really get why I'd have to wait even longer.

I was wondering if there's a console command or something that could help me out, and before you ask, I'm not playing with mod's at the moment so I don't think it would've conflicted with anything.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I remember you don't need to wait on the courier. Have you tried just sleeping?

Perhaps slightly outside the OP's topic, but my beef with the start of the Dark Brotherhood quest line is:
Spoiler
Any of Astrid's game show contestants, that you decide not to kill in the Abandoned Shack, are apparently left tied in place to die of dehydration and/or starvation. If one later stumbles into the shack, one can only either continue to interrogate them or do a mercy killing. Realizing that kind of makes the whole original choice exercise seem a bit pointless.

Is that a bug? I would say so, but then again perhaps not, if Astrid and/or the game designers have a perverted/sadistical sense of humor.

Sometimes the dev team does not think of everything. ;)

@ the OP - have you tried just sleeping? According to the UESPwiki, that can trigger it sometimes.

Yeah, I've slept in every hold while I was waiting for the courier.
