Dark Brotherhood.......the good guys?

Post » Thu Nov 22, 2012 9:49 am

so I had this thought sure the dark brotherhood like killing people but looking at who they kill well lets just samy must people they kill are not really that nice. so I began to think well maybe there are not so evil but a group that dos not think that killing someone is an evil act. and by looking at the reasons some one opens up a contract(with the exception of useing it to get rid of political, persoanol, busness rivals. but it would seem to me that most contracts are opened because someone has been wronged and has a justufiable reason for revenge. so what do you guys think? maybe the dark brotherhood are champions of justice(..probs not but maybe)

The Dark Brotherhood, in my opinion, is evil, because they kill who their contact wants them to kill, which still counts as murder.

Heh. Nice theory, but I don't think they are good at all. :D They kill because it fills their pocket, or because they enjoy murders. Not to fight justice.

So, while they might murder someone who deserved it from time to time, their motivation certainly isn't justice.

I'd imagine quite a good deal many of their targets didn't really deserve to die. Overall they definitely aren't evil, but they probably serve a necessary (questionable) function in Tamriel.

They kill people for money. They kill because they enjoy it . If this isn't evil, I don't know what is.

My main problem with the DB is not their philosophy but the fact that they often kill people who can barely protect themselves and are the amongst the most vulnerable citizens of Skyrim, just because someone wants them dead. This seems cowardly to me. You don't get contracts on mercenaries, ruthless businessmen, or members of the Companions.

1. Most of them are murderers through-and-through. As the Orc in Oblivion put it, "The night mother pays me to kill people. I wish my own mother loved me so much!"

2. People who are contracted to be killed by the Dark Brotherhood tend to be political rivals, people who did terrible things... or is someone good who unfortuantly happens to be "in the way" or on the wrong side of a family feud. We only see the Dark Brotherhood from the viewpoint of the PCs, and most of the killings, therefore, would be justifiable to some degree just to prevent players from being too disgusted with themselves. The Orc in Oblivion? He kills a pre-teen girl on her birthday. Things of this sort are probably more common than random killing of a corrupt individual.
