Darkness falls

I'm new to the GECK, but not new to the game or the Elder Scrolls games... but I wanted to make a simple plug-in that changes the default night colors to make the nights look like "night". No purples, blues, just black and shades of gray. So I loaded the master, then clicked on weather, selected night, changed the colors of all the layers, and did the same for midnight. Saved the changes to a plug-in (my personal night) and loaded it with only the main esm and used Wyre Flash and made a patch.... no changes showed up in the game... even the mod "Fellout" that is supposed to make the nights dark, didn't do it.... can someone help my lack of basic understanding of how to make a plug-in? I know it's probably something stupid that I overlooked or just don't know about... and I'm sorry about that.... but any help would be appreciated. Or is there a plug in that makes the sky black down to the horizon, but that still doesn't cut down the ambient lighting, so even if the sky is black, it's still light out.... any help any where?
