Is the Skeleton Key better than the quest rewards for returning it?

What are the rewards for returning it?

Dont return it, its an invincible lock pick and you get crappy rewards for turning it in, unless you don't care or are level 100 lock pick don't turn it in

You can start upgrading the Thieves Guild back to it's glory days. You get some new armor, four shopkeepers, and not to mention a crapton of money while getting to the various base upgrades.

And always remember the perk you can get in the Lockpicking tree.

Ugh. Don't listen to them.
Before I got the unbreakable pick perk, I just bought lockpicks en masse, sometimes I have 200 I carry around, so it's never an issue.

i returned it, dont need unbreakable when you got 80+ skill and you take it slow.

You get to choose a power and get an awesome bow, so its worth turning it in :)

Maybe if you want to spend a million perks on lockpicking it's not vey useful, but as someone who doesn't it can take 10-20 lockpicks just to open a single 'master', or even expert, level lock. All the time and irritation wasted on that can be totally avoided with the skeleton key.

I actually have another question about this

Does the skeleton key count as a Daedric artifact for the Oblivion walker achievement? (yes... I know achievement are pointless, BUT ME WANT THAT ACHIEVEMENT!)

And if you turn it in, does it still count as you had it before turning it in?

What are the rewards for returning it?

well you get one of three nightingale powers
i took the one that mades you invisible everytime you sneak (for 2min), very usefull

the skeleton key on the other hand, changes nothing, just saves a little bit money on lockpicks (i buyed about 50 once and not a single one every again afterwards)

one thing to know is, it's a daedric artefact and counts toward the achievment, so maybe do that first
there are 16 artefacts and you need 15 for the achievment

A million? Drama much? Like, 6-7 at minimum. And very worth it.
And you debunked your own arguement. The Unbreakable Lockpick perk negates all that "frustration" you have.
