Dawnguard, and it's effect on vanilla Skyrim

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 8:38 am

Someone else thinks that Dawnguard is so cool it makes vanilla Skyrim quests pale? I just made a new character exclusively for the DLC, but I already completed its main quest. And now, while levelling up, I find all the vanilla guilds, quests extremely boring. Just thinking of going to High Hrothgar again... It gives me a genuine bellyache. Or getting aproached by Aela, having the "Speak with the leader of the Companions" stuck in your journal, when I don't care about the Companions... A double bellyache.

I'm totally thankful to the devs for Dawnguard's epicness, but I wish it was like that for vanilla Skyrim's quests, too. I feel like if Bethy is trying to fill a big empty world that lacked more freedome of choice (even if, in the end, you are forced to join the mages college to get rid of 20 points of weight from your inventory, anyway) and quality of content.

What do you think? Could you ever play vanilla Skyrim without the DLC feeling genuinely involved? (I already know many of you can, but I'm curious to know the opinion of people who are more bored with vanilla Skyrim than usual).

I still feel the same way about the main game as I always did, although three characters later I am starting to think of playing something else, but there are still a few things I would like to do yet.

It adds more bugs than the Vanilla game had when it first came out. Also Bethesda will say no DLC will be bigger than DG for Skyrim. Yaaaa (sarcasm) DG was quick and lack luster. If the next DLC is smaller and even worse than DG I will not buy it unless it has to do with the Psijics or some cliffhanger.

They will be smaller because Beth made an egine that can barely handle Skyrim itself. It's their fault for pretending to start a house from the roof.

I thought they said Dawnguard would be the smallest of the DLCs released?
