"Dawnguard and vampire factions will be as long as regul

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 2:19 am

I heard this quote somewhere. This really makes me nervious. I was really hoping that the two factions would be as long as Oblivion factions with some smaller, Skyrim-style quests added on. People have already complained about how short the faction questlines were, I don't see why Bethesda would just make more short faction questlines.

They already confirmed that the main quest for Dawnguard would be 10-20 hours

They also confirmed that there would be new quests added to the vanilla game, unrelated to the new factions.

I find they tend to over estimate how long their games are. I could only get 200 hundred hours of the main skyrim game before deciding I've had enough. This is far more than most games, but still, they did promise 300, which is a 50% increase.

And I've gotten well over 400 hours out of Skyrim, and I still can't get enough.

It's all subjective, bro.

I know, but it feels like to get to 300+ hours, you need to essentially repeat the game. I mean, lets take DA:O. It is a 40 hour game, but theoretically, you can play it for 6 times for 240 hours, but if I said it was a 240 hour game, people would laugh at me

All my characters in skyrim and oblivion (well most of them) are 100+ hours, some 200+

I think it depends on your pace. I take my time with RPG's and chill.

But yeah, the faction quests were a bit short. I was actually surprised how short the Bard's College was. It was hardly even a faction quest. I was really looking forward to having my character learn "lute" skills and play in taverns for mere gold donations.

The difference is that DA:O ends after doing everything; Skyrim doesn't.

I got a lot of time out of skyrim. It really depends on if you do everything and how long it takes you to do such. People like me who easily get side tracked will get a lot of hours out of the game were more straight forward people will finish quicker.

My suggestion: Observe everything you can and milk the DLC for what it's worth. Take the time to notice your surroundings and the details they're going to put in.

I tend to try and do just about every quest in my quest log on most of my characters. I've completed all the faction quests and the main storyline and that took roughly 200+ hours on just one character.

I also make one of just about every possible character archetype and play through as much as possible on each one. So it's safe to say I've logged at least 400+ hours on this game already, and still going...

No. They confirmed Dawn Guard in general would add 20 hours of new content. That could easily mean 2 hours of Main Quest and 18 hours of random spelunking in dungeons.

I really doubt that would be the case.. Probably more like 10 hours Main Quest, 10 hours dungeon crawling.

10-20 hours means it's only going to last for like 4-5

If you use fast travel to get everywhere you can beat all the quest lines retardedly fast, I started a new guy to get ready for dawnguard on the 1st and by the 6th i had done all the faction questlines and most of the main story but the thing was i wasn't even trying to go that fast and i listened to all the dialogue.

The only way it'll last as long as they say is if you walk everywhere and listen to all the dialogue and pretty much go as slowly as you possibly can.

I doubt they took fast travel into consideration with the 10-20 hour estimate because if they did it would be a fraction of that and make them look bad.

Problem with your theory is the fact you have to actually travel to most areas yourself before you can even fast travel there. There probably isn't even going to be a way to take a carriage to get their either. Except maybe one time to get to the Dawnguard's stronghold or something like that.

I think when they say 10-20 hours, they take things like "Fast Traveling" into consideration. This DLC is probably going to be comparable to Shivering Isles. Which was at least 10+ hours.

Even with finding the place first, doing whatever you came to do then fast travel back to turn in the quest makes it take half as much time to do.

Well yeah, I suppose so. I still think the DLC could end up being at least 10 hours, if it's anything equivalent to the Shivering Isles DLC from Oblivion.

It doesn't really matter if they are short or not, you will most likely replay them many times over.

10-20 hours, along with the sidequests associated with it. That's the perfect amount of time, for me. The perfect middle ground for a faction storyline: not too long, not too short, and some little missions in the backround.

Also by the sounds of it, they got the faction leader down now as well. Being able to upkeep Fort Dawnguard/Castle Volkihar, instead of continuing to run around and do errands like before

No. They don't, its all about figures. Think about it you're a business. You can either say the new 20$ DLC your making lasts only 5 hours if you do what the majority will do (Fast travel) OR you can say its up to 20 hours, but 'forget' to mention thats only if you walk every where and take your sweet time doing everything. Sorry to break it to you mate but no one cares about honesty. It's all about money, good numbers, sales, Argonian Skin Boots and Khajiit fur rugs.(With the Spiked [censored] attachment optional)
