Dawnguard priced at 1600MP

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:25 pm

I just read a little while ago that Dawnguard is releasing at a price of 1600MP. To those of you that don't know, MP stands for Microsoft Points which is the currency system used on the Xbox Live Marketplace to purchase games and DLC. 1600 points is the equivalent of $20.

So $20 is more than what most DLC's cost. I personally don't really know a whole lot about Dawnguard and honestly just learned about it a few weeks ago. So I'm not sure exactly what you get, how long it is, what it all entails, and all that. I kind of know what it's about but that's pretty much it. For all I know $20 is a great price.

This leads me to my question. What do you think of the price?

Considering that skyrim dlc's are supposedly "Longer and bigger" then the oblivions first dlc's im happy with the price. (I belive its more like "shivering islands" instead of "horse armor" content wise)

Edit: From what i gathered about Dawnguard i would easily pay $40 (Gotta have a higher sum then the guy below me) :P

Same. This DLC looks impressive compared to MW2's overpriced map packs.

people have already said the DLC is about 20 hours. 40 hours if you play off everything Dawnguard has available

Generaly 20 hours "if you take your time, read the conversations and look at the scenery" is 2-4 hours if you just play it fast xD.

Oh wow. So basically the main questline is 20 hours, but the enitre thing such as all the side quests, miscellaneous quests, etc all add up to 40 hours? I did not know this.

That would be possible only with a main quest speedrun.

Oh damn this is going to take me forever. Right now I'm playing a mod that supposedly only has 2 hours of gameplay in it, and it's been a solid 7+ spread out over a few days. I like to walk

1600 is about what I expect for DLC that's not a costume pack.

I don't care how many hours of play are in this expansion. All im intetested in are the character change features and the new dragon and mount.
The actual story is just a bonus.

I got it for free but I would gladly have paid the $20 for it after having been in the beta.

But this is also coming from someone who bought horse armor.

I was wondering, how did you become a beta tester for this game? I'm not interested in becoming one but I am wondering how it all came about.

Open beta. You applied on the forum. I applied before I made an account, so I didn't get in. But, as a former PC gamer and active forum user, and having seen the wonderful people in the Dawnguard speculation thread, I decided to stay.

How did they chose who joins the testers? I'm guessing a whole lot of people applied.

Oh and how did they get the game out to them? Did they give them a special code to download it that only the testers got?

I think going the route of beta testing was a phenomenal idea. Hopefully it paid off and we see a lot less bugs and glitches than usual.

A very small percentage got in, but I'm unsure of how people were selected. Could have been random. Could have been hand selected. Either way, it was nice of them to do it.

I agree. It was also a great idea. I don't think they've done any beta testing before. But with a game like The Elder Scrolls, you really need it. Some of the bugs and glitches that came with Skyrim were just ridiculous. The developers don't have time to make the game then go back and find all the bugs. That's why so many games are going the route of beta testing.

Hmm, they probably don't want the testers leaking out all the hot info on the big games. Especially when game sites will pay for that kind of info. So i can understand their thinking on that.

I mean they may but I highly doubt they would ask random people to test their brand new TES game.
