Hello wonderful people Im just going to ask if anyone else is wondering if you join the Volkihar in dawnguard will the generic "wild" vampires become friendly toward the player since your generally helping all of their kind.

Probably not. Vampires are divided into clans, and the clan in Dawnguard is probably not affiliated with every other Volkihar vampire in Skyrim.

Doubt it, Vampires in dawnguard are a clan while most wild vamps are just lone wolf's.

Yeah your probably right it just peaked my curiosity when they said a complete overhaul of the vampires not involved with the expansion.

The Order vampries should hunt you down and attempt to tear your wings off for being a worthless animal, real volkihar are probably very territorial and any wild vampires are probably too stupid to help another vampire

...i sound like i am a part of The Order

All vampires in Skyrim are Volkihar.

nope. most are not, proof is the fact that a few vampires are actually labled volkihar, every other vampire is Order vampires (at least, its the most likely case, considering the game-play)

The UESP says the vampires of Skyrim are of the Volkihar. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Volkihar_Vampire#Volkihar_Vampire

At the least the volkihar in the expansion have closely related powers one is a mist form [although i could've swore that was velenwood vampire's power]

like i said, only a few are. the volkihar is a clan/tribe of vampires that is one of the very few known to live in skyrim (the only one we know of) but they are not the only ones (and they are not even the majority at the time of skyrim). the UESP is not flawless, it is wrong when it says all vampires in skyrim are volkihar (more proof it is wrong, it says the volkihar can blend into crowds like The Order, it is wrong, tht is just lazyness on bethesda's part when making vampries).

mist form is a power for a clan in valenwood, and these vampires in dawnguard are not vokihar. they may be a mutation on the volkihar's part (i hope not but they most likely are) but they are not the same tribe.

I'll admit they do seem confused about their identity i don't know maybe it's a group of vampires from all the differnt provinces they seem to have newer powers then most,
It has been suggested that there are over one hundred different kinds of Vampires in tes lore i remember reading that somewhere most are unnamed or assumed consumed by the order.

All vampires in Skyrim are Volkihar.

Nope. The "Immortal Blood" book which is where we first learned of the Volkihar, specifically mentions that the Volkihar are the most powerful Vampire Clan in eastern Skyrim. Key words here, "most powerful clan", and "eastern Skyrim". Nowhere was "only clan in Skyrim" ever mentioned. Which means there's more than one clan in Skyrim.

It's been confirmed that the Vampire Clan shown in Dawnguard, is indeed the legendary Volkihar. The leader, Harkon, has also just "returned". I don't think it's a mere coincidence that the Volkihar learn to transform into a Paragon Form at the same time that Harkon has "returned" from somewhere. I'm thinking he made a journey and made a pact to gain the power.

Must've missed the comfirmation of which clan they were all i've been hearing was the name of their leader and castle.
