MP Dead Already?

I fired up multiplayer today and managed to get into one laggy co-op match and one very laggy vehicle match. But after that I couldn't find any games. Searched for a good 10m. Nothing. And where is the server browser? How about dedicated servers? I can't help but feel like id sold out all in the name of profit. This is what happened to the music industry; it was no longer about the music but the profit. I used to tell my friends "well, at least id Software still cares about us PC gamers." Not anymore. The list of game developers faithful to the PC continues to shrink.

I wonder what Doom 4 will be like? Regenerating health, two weapon limit, low res textures, low frame rate (due to lack of optimization for PC), no dedicated servers, and no server browser. Has to be just like CoD, has to be dumbed-down for console gamers because a few additional options are too confusing, and lastly it has to run on six year old hardware because that's where ALL the money supposedly is since the industry thinks PC gaming is dead (despite the millions of people who use Steam). I realize I'm being completely pessimistic, but I can't help but feel this way given the game industry's constant pattern of releasing the same exact $60 slop.

I think it's safe to say that the next QuakeCon is gonna be extremely awkward, if there even is one. Quake 3 just isn't Quake 3 with a silly controller.

Anyways, I'm going to continue enjoying the incredibly easy and short campaign, and dead/buggy/laggy multiplayer :) cheers!

First of all i want to express my huge disappointment i had in trying to get this game to work on my pc. Now it finally works fine and i put a thread about it here, but it has been quite a ride so far. I've been an id fan since day 1, game 1 all the way back and I love the way id
is a frontrunner in creating the perfect engine. But to make everything short: the way Rage shipped on pc, it never should have been released just yet.
John, you said it yourself: it's basically a game that didnt work on pc the way it was shipped. I simply don't understand that companies like AMD (ATI) and nvidia didnt have their drivers
ready for rage and i dont understand why id/Bethesda didn't include exclusive Rage drivers in the package.
I mean wasn't it supposed to be well known in the company that the actual ATI drivers at the moment are version 11.9 ??
All this required was a huge amount of testing testing and more testing, either on beta alpha versions of the game. Let's be honest: rage was supposed to create fireworks after release.
All these years in the making, at least there should be given us 30 minutes of gameplay before crash.

But now what did we get: i saw the intro "crash on earth + vault opens"movie like 300 times untill i figured out through the forum how to turn it off, startup, ingame, no textures, flickering, etc...back to windows 7 restart, intro movie etc...it was so incredibly frustrating i couldnt believe this was happening in 2011.

Instead of partying after release at id headquarters and/or Bethesda, this time there should be mourning. For real it's a shame for all the hardcoe fans and pc users. I'm not talking about console users here, i didnt try the game on ps3 or xbox, just yet.
I'm talking about the loyal fanbase and fans on pc, the platform on which it all started. Quite frankly its the platform nothing seems to work on this time. What a huge bummer.

Honestly guys at id and let's face it: and i'm only talking about the stability of the code here: but this is the most crappy software package with stability issues released in recent GAME HISTORY, heck, maybe even in the last decade!
And we are talking about what SHOULD be one of the best game programming teams in the entire world. Who will take responsability here: id? Bethesda? Zenimax? Amd? or Nvidia? Or all of them?
What can we, as fans and loyal gamers, think about that?
Can you guys believe i started to think there was a forced and way too early pc release with an unplayable game just to get 1 or 2 extra months for optimalisation; this in order to make the timing match, to keep up with 2 other game releases in the fps genre (BF3 and CODMW3)later in november??
I dont even know what to think of it anymore.
And the whole thing was, i was able to play a couple of levels of rage at first, and i must admit: when the game works for a bit, it looks absolutely amazing. I love it and i want more, but stability issues at first made me give up, it's like putting a kid at the candy store and someone takes all candy away in front of your face, and even tries to steal your nike shoes while closing up the laces.

People were critisizing duke nukem forever, well at least it was a stable game in my opinion, i didnt get any crashes.
Anyways i hope iD learns a lesson and let's hope this never occurs again because it was a true nightmare so far which enRAGES the fans. Thousands of people can't get it to work.

It's a true shame that again, us fans have to put everything we find on the forum sharing with the community, putting real efforts and time into this while basically all we wanna do is to discover the game.Instead we are finding solutions etc...and officially we still have no feedback from the company after one week.

This game has multiplayer only so id can say.......yes, this game has multiplayer. It's like upcoming Mass Effect 3. It's a singleplayer game but Bioware will make some crap multiplayer just because that is expected from new games these days.
