Dead Money for PC - question about patches : Fallout: New Vegas

Does anyone know if it will be possible to download Dead Money from Steam but not have Steam install all the latest updates
to Fallout New Vegas? I still haven't applied the patch that breaks the sniper rifle and addes NCR Ranger armour to the safehouse
etc, and I'd rather not. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks in advance.

Since the patches (and upcoming patches) may add support required for the DLC, I don't think thats possible.

As was seen with the Fallout 3 DLC, problems were encountered if you didn't have the latest patches installed when playing the DLC.

you have to have up to patch 1.02 it might have problems without it check wiki

Steam should install the patches automatically. If you do not have them installed check the Steamworks update options and update it manually.
