Dead shopkeepers?

Question :

So if a shopkeeper dies, may you rest in peace Alvor. What happens with the store? Does someone else replace them or?
I don't really want assumptions here, lots of them on google when i searched.

Something that scared the crap out of me :

Ok i'm playing assassin on master difficulty, no magic and no archery, just melee.
Oh yeah i'm not exploiting any bugs or smithy thingie.

So i'm in a dungeon and the mobs takes 2-3 hits to kill from the back, x15 dmg with dagger and everything.
It took me alot of sneaking around and some invis potions to get through some of the "harder" (can't be bothered with) areas.

I come into this room with lots of loot! I go loco and i pick up everything i can. As you might have guessed...i picked up to much, but it was like elven armor and some ebony stuff.
So i dropped the dwarf armor i picked up a while back (don't ask me why i didn't sell it in the first place), all of a sudden 3 tangos rush in with 2-handed weapons.
I was out of invis potions (yes i noobed out there), so i panicked and thought [censored] i'm so dead! They really scared the crap out of me, bashing up the door screaming etc.
I don't have subtitles on so i missed some of the argument they had (yes they argued), all of a sudden they started bashing eachother in the face.

Yepp you guessed right, all of them were fighting over the dwarven armor =/.

Note :

I would appreciate if someone had the answer for my question ^^

My assumption is they're replaced, some stores have two vendors and so don't need a replacement if a single vendor dies.

The only case I have seen is the general store in Markarth, due to a quest I was doing and decided to fail on purpose I ended out having to kill the store keeper of that store (I did not realize this at the time). The store cleaner/janitor now acts at the store vendor for that store and so in this case the vendor was replaced; Also the janitor really doesn't like the fact I killed the previous vendor

Spoiler

The original/first vendor of the store is a Cannibal, if you purposefully fail Namira's you will have to fight her as one of the cannibals around the table at the end of the quest.

it maybe dependent on the stores as well, some stores maybe replaced when others aren't that'd take some testing to find out.

This is a scripted event. I encountered the same adventurers myself. I can't for the life of me remember exactly where. But they had the exact same quarrel over loot, and ignored me until only one was left standing.

Well one of those thugs was the bandit boss :P

That happened to me once before in Solitude, i dropped a piece of armor and 6 villagers started bashing each other in the face.

Lami (alchemist in Morthal) was killed by a dragon. Her shop was unlocked, everything had the 'steal' label and no one else ever showed up. I figured I'd better resurrect her while her body was still available. Her husband never even acknowledged that she died.
