Great mod, but makes low level OOO and FCOM games very hard.

How about incorporating this mod *into* MMM and FCOM so that we can have easy and hard versions of animals.

So a low level Boar has *vanilla* animations and waits for attacks, *but* higher level boars can have *new* versions of attacks so they are harder to avoid.

If you can encounter a normal boar from first level, you would encounter the bad-a$$ version at higher levels.

In an OOO game because you might encounter higher level animals from the start, when you go into specific dungeons, then you might see the harder versions from the start if you are fool enough to go into harder places from the start.

So we can separate the folder for higher level bad-a$$ versions of the animals and change those versions to use the new animations.

And that would greatly scale the game to have harder opponents at higher levels.

I hope CorePC and FCOM team use these animations for their higher level animals, that would be great.

Nice job. :tops:

If this were incorporated into FCOM, I'd imagine the easier thing to do would be to adjust the stats of the creatures to adapt to their improved combat techniques.

New version is up, now features almost all creatures (including SI creatures) as well as complete support for MMM, OOO and Fran's. Have fun dying! :P

Before you think that the game will be impossible now please note that not all creatures are affected as much as minotaurs for example. Many have only subtle changes that you will hardly notice in game. I tried to balance attacks and make formerly useless attacks at least a bit useful.

And thanks to CorePC for offering help, but I ended up downloading MMM and OOO to look up the folder structure and animations used by various custom creatures.

Personally I feel that many of the creatures are simply broken. The trailer I posted is nothing I made up myself by using AI packages or scripts or anything that Bethesda did on E3. It is vanilla gameplay. I think it is just ridiculous. I don't need mentally retarded versions of creatures for low level characters. Sure, the game will be hard if you don't pay attention. But you just have to get used to the fact that you can't run away from an enemy that is twice as fast as you. I know it's hard after playing Oblivion for four years. But I don't think it's impossible. I haven't played with a low level character yet using this mod (my current char is level 22) but I'm looking forward to it.

It maybe sounds weird, but before I often caught myself not fighting as good as I can simply because I thought 'this can't be true'. I fought a minotaur at level 6 that could theoretically kill me with two hits. But he couldn't kill me. Never. So I sometimes didn't avoid his attacks or didn't move as fast as I could. Same goes for many other creatures. Boars never hit anything. Unless you really want them to hit you they never ever hit you. That is not something I'm looking for in my game. I want to give the best I can, use all the options I have to defeat an enemy. If I don't have to do that it is just lame and kills the fun for me.

This is more or less a modders resource though. So if someone wants to make a different approach by giving the new animations to a few creatures only he is free to do so.

Agreed, and y'know, I think I'm going to make sure the UOP team is aware of this just in case they agree. :P

One of the greatest mods ever. :jammasterjay: :run: :dmc: :intergalactic:
Truly, Radically changes gameplay, I will never play again without it.
And your trailer is funny as hell.
Imagine... I actually risk crapping my pants when encountering scary beasties now.
The way the game should have been initially.
Any particular place in my load order this should go for maximum effectiveness? {I use OOO MMM}

They are a mesh replacer there is no esp. They would need to be installed after OOO or MMM or Frans.

Love the MMM tweak for Hill Gaints, much more deadlier by the way Phitt

He he, that trailer is great!
I never realized vanilla creatures were that mentally challenged.
A must have for all who likes a challenge, more tactical choices, realism and immersion. :tops:

EDIT: change of word due to ludicrous censorship.

Deserves a bump for deadlier goodness. Plus I think the Hill Giants in MMM should be included. They aren't now and they behave just like Minotaurs etc. before adding Deadlier Creatures, i.e. stop and stand still while attacking so it's easy to stay out of reach.

Yep, no problems here (apart from it makes T.I.E a bit more challenging)

Not using TIE but as it only uses vanilla resources I'm pretty sure they are perfectly compatible.

I do not use TIE so i can not be certain for 100% but this is a small quote from the mods description page on Nexus.

= Compatibility =

This mod is compatible with any other mod that doesn't alter power attack animations of creatures.

So my guess would be that unless TIE alters the power attacks of creatures i think it should be compatible?

since MMM also includes frans creatures, does one need both MMM and frans folders from this mod if using both, or will MMM suffice?

You've kinda got that the wrong way around... Frans has some of MMM's creatures. :whistling: And if you installed Frans extra creatures alongside MMM then that's an installation mistake right there, so I don't see any reason you'd need to install both.

I'm thinking of FCOM, where of course you must not install frans additional creatures. so basically for FCOM do I also need the frans folder of deadlier creatures or not? better safe than sorry :D

If you don't install the creatures, there's no reason to install the new animations for them. While it's no big deal to clutter up your hard-drive, it's not going to do you any favours either.

Hi Phitt, Any chance of a version for Nehrim? I'm guessing it would be a fair bit of work, as they have changed the names of a lot of creatures & the damage they do & off course there are spiders & some other creatures that don't exist in Oblivion but I would love to have this one if at all possible Beebee
