Dealing with Benny

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 9:33 pm

I'm having a hard time moving forward because the idea of planning to kill/murder Benny is not something I'd do. I know he tried to kill me but, well, I'm just not vengeful. I don't know where the story goes or if I have to kill him later or if my life would be easier to get it over with and get the chip but... I do have Black Widow so it would be so easy. If he'd attack me, I'd blow him away but I don't think he does that...a second time. Any advice?

Things just slightly easier for you to kill Benny *if* you have convinced Swank.

Otherwise he will get in trouble and you would be getting the chip without killing him.

Spoiler
If you let him go at the casino, than you find him later at Caesar's Tent tied up. You can let him go if you want.

I killed him for his sweet pistol. I wouldn't have though if I could have gotten the pistol another way.

Thank you, everyone. You really helped without giving too much away. By my hand or another's, Benny's going down for what he's done and it'll be done with honor. I'll get back to him after a few other things I have to do. :)

Yep. Benny has to die. The only way for him to survive is for you to single-handedly exterminate an entire city full of hardened warriors. Pretty lame actually.

They aren't that hardened they just require a lot of effort and Boone's Vengeful Rifle the only real loss is the stimpacks and ED-E for me

I do have Black Widow so it would be so easy.

If you choose this option, I think you'll have a very "hard" time.

Somehow I feel you've missed my point :)

Isn't Benny somewhere else for awhile ?
I know when you show up Caesar's place he is there. ( it's scripted if you don't kill him at the Strip )...but talking to someone ( Freeside )pointed out the fact he was staying with some chick at the Gomorrah.
Anybody find him there ?

I never allowed it to let him get away.
Speaking with Swank, at the front desk by the greeter, before you confront Benny opens up an option to confront Benny fully armed once you complete an investigation for Swank.
Once done, swank returns your weapons, and they are no longer taken away in the Topps.

Time to confront Benny now, loaded for bear. :)

That's what my assassin character did. You are familiar with the mating habbits of a praying mantis, rigth? ;)

Yes, I am familiar with the Praying Mantis but my current character is an honorable and noble woman and it isn't in her nature to just kill him like that in his sleep. It was bothering me and so I posted. :) I have heard the dialogue for the Black Widow scenario and, I don't know, it just left me unsatisfied, you know? :D All I could think of was Matthew Perry and how many takes did he have to do to say the dialogue with a straight face. He's an absolute pro so it may not have taken long but he's a real funny guy and I could just imagine him laughing really hard. :D

I understand completely, i have such characters too. This character however does stuff just like that. Kills with sneak attacks and it doesn't get much sneakier than that

Umm on my first play through I found benny and used black widow to get him to take me up stairs to his room. basically I killed him in his sleep. I then searched his whole suite and walked out with no problems.

Or, you can get Benny up the the suite alone even without Black Widow, and talk to him about why he shot you in the face which can end in him attacking you. That way its self defense and not a revenge murder.

I killed him in the Arena, I felt that was the most honourable option. He certainly deserved to die, but he did leave behind this sweet plan and Yes Man.

I really liked the part of the game when Benny tricked me. I didn't think a game could trick me anymore and I was impressed. Then at Ceasar's camp i felt sorry for him and felt like he was tricking me again when he says "Baby i'll be gone you'll never see me again". I thought of the scene in Scarface and decided he won't trick me again.

Don't assume so much. You don't have to kill Benny. You don't even have to go after the chip he stole from you, if you don't want to. And I don't mean in the "it's a sand box, you just go off doing random stuff instead" sense. At least 1 of the paths to the end doesn't care at all if you ever meet Benny.

Well, technically that's true. But there's essentially only one way to interact with him, which svcks.

I'm actually on a playthrough now where I've decided to just leave Benny as a loose end ... but now I'm having the exact same problem with Mr. House. Ah, decisions, decisions :)

This is also incorrect. You can go up to Benny's suite and accept his offer of a teamup, if you'd like.

My last toon had the exact opposite approach. I used the Terrifying Presence dialouge to tell Benny "I dug myself out of my grave, to put you in yours." Then proceeded to beat the face off of everyone in the casino.
