Cazadors - Start with a Hunting Rifle sneak attack from maximum possible range. That will generally take 1/3 to 1/2 of their life and weaken them. Follow-up with 1-2 more shots as they close the distance, but be careful not to draw multiples away from the swarm. Switch to the Hunting Shotgun (with choke and extended tube) and finish them off as they close in. Followers can be useful for helping deal with them once they get close. Gun skill of 50-ish if you want to go hunting these on purpose in the hills.

Get 20 points of critical.
Get a sniper rifle with hand loaded .308
Get maths wrath, 2 x action boy, fast shot, high agility, chems etc.
You can fire up to 5 x critical headshots.
Defeated legendary deathclaw in a straight up fight with that build. Provided he doesn't OHKO me in VATS, which happens like 10% of the time.

In FO3 I didn't even fear deathclaws. Fawkes with his gatling laser would lay waste to them, and those that made it through his barrage met a VATS Combat Shotgun to the face. Once I had Fawkes I don't think I ever took damage from a deathclaw again.

In NV I fear deathclaws, a lot. I don't have Fawkes with his gatling laser of doom guarding me. I stay away from them, they stay away from me, we have a good thing going.

Cazadors are a joke, I think. I can see how they could become a problem if you had a melee character or only short/medium-range weapons with a low ROF. With ED-E's sensors I see those things a mile away and just slap some AP rounds into the Ratslayer (it has the same spread as the Sniper Rifle, so you can hit them from pretty far). Be patient, don't use VATS, don't try to chase them with your scope, pick an area where they're flying to and wait for them to fly back to it, and then BAM! Sneak attack critical with a silencer from long range, takes them down in one shot and the others don't have a clue you're there. Repeat for the rest of the swarm, just remember PATIENCE. It can take a minute or two to get a clean shot at one, but it's better than having the buggers up in your face. Oh, and if they rush at me they get to meet Cass with her Hunting Shotgun. She's a total beast with that 12 gauge.

I killed a Cazador by shooting it few times to the head with Maria and HP bullets. I no longer fear the Mojave Murder Bee :D

I still fear Deathclaws though :bolt:

Nobody mentioned "Rocket" which is Jet X 2 (+30 Action Points), as well as Rebound, which is supposed to regenerate action points

What difficulty are you on? What level is your character? And how far into the game are you?

Normal, 10 at some points and now 21, and I'm an explorer, so not really all that far. I haven't had much trouble with them either. Sneak is OP imo and makes things rather easy to dispatch anything with a clean head shot, especially with a sniper rifle (which I stole).

Just killed ma and pa Deathclaws at lvl 15 on hardcoe mode with Cass and Oh Baby. The trick if you are a melee build is to have a scoped rifle and pull one at a time. Oh baby's knock down does the rest.

Cazzies: Riot Shotgun with VATS. Or 100% avoidance.

DCs: sneak attack head shots with a suppressed sniper rifle and AP rounds. Also, high ground. If the first shot doesn't do the job, maintaining a superior position has always saved my life. In the Quarry, after sniping the outer guard from the rocks, I climbed one of the conveyor belts and picked off the entire family in a few minutes. Since they couldn't find me, it was kind of like shooting fish in a barrel. (I did not accomplish this until I was level 26 with Guns 100 - normal difficulty)

I hide somewhere they can't get and headshot with my sniper rifle. (Of course, the invisible wall remover helps, lol).

Other than that, I find that Knock Knock and some Med-X can work well, for Cazadors, too. Just remember the Stimpacks and antivenom.

And there is always Alien Blaster, if you've remembered your Wild Wasteland trait.

Here's a challenge, hunt them without a scope. Fast Shot + Assault Carbine + AP ammo, that's one fun way of doing it. :-) Multiplas is another. My bravest Deathclaw kill so far was with Pushy. :-)

I find that the thermic lance is my tool to kill them all. just stick it out and let them run into it. I've tried the flame-thrower and gatling laser....nothing. Shotgun, eh....so-so.

Well for ranged payers exploiting your range (duh) is your priority.. BUT if it all goes south and you get charged by 2-3 of em (wich happens) there are 2 guns in the game that can make your life easier. Thats the m1 garand with hand loaders (this machine) or brush gun. If you use up all the ammo on the brush gun don't just stand there while DC's are slashing your ass, go to vats and use your other 2nd best weapon.

The BEST setup for dealin with them all around is suppressed sniper rifle. I have 10 luck + 3 crit trait +5 finnesse+5boones hat =23%critx5 sniper modifiers = u crit every time all crits bypass DT so i load my sniper with HPs. With better crits + proffessional percs 1 sneak torso shot kills anything except legendary DC.

1 sneak headshot with unique gauss rifle can 1 shot legendary DC too.

there is no reason to kill Deathclaws. They are harmless and friendly. Just ignore them and they will go away...
