Delphine dies in the battle with Sahloknir

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 10:01 am

Hi.

I've run into a problem doing the quest where you have to kill the dragon Sahloknir. In that fight Delphine dies and doesn't come back to life. If I resurrect her through the console she doesn't have any quest related dialogue.

I don't have a mod making NPCs unessential activated, although I have one, tried the fight again without the files of those mod in my game folder, but the problem remains.

I need help urgently. :(

You're on a pc? Reload the save before the battle with the dragon, open the console, click on Delphine and use the command

disable

Delphine will disappear. Close the console (don't click on anything so that you don't lose Delphine's ID in the console.)

Fight the dragon, kill it and then open the console again and enter

enable.

Delphine will come back alive. ;)

or....since you know you can kill the dragon, right when the fight starts before delphine dies, open the console, click on the dragon and type 'kill'.

Click on Delphine. Type "IsEssential" then enter. If it returns 1, then try entering this in the console:

setINI "bessentialtakenodamage:gameplay" 1

If she's not essential, use "SetEssential" to fix her.

Wow.... that's UNREAL. On the toons I've played through that encounter, not ONCE has Delphie baby taken ANY damage, since Sal baby is concentrating all his fire on yours truly....

Me too. I'm wondering if she's been tailing me around. I keep running into her in various pubs. "Not here. I told you to meet me in Riverwood."

"Sweet Mother, sweet Mother, send your child unto me, for the sins of the unworthy must be baptized in blood and fear." for Delphine. Can I? Please?

She was crouching and creeping and covering and whining on the ground for my last character during that fight (i.e. doing what an essential character does once the hitpoints have hit zero.) That dragon loved to hit her, because it didn't see my character very well.

Also, the dragon and me were around level 30, while Delphine didn't seem to be much stronger than level 2 or something like that.

Ah. I've actually never done that encounter on a toon higher than about level 5. Interesting....

Guys, this is serious. If it's not a leftover from a mod (essential status can sometimes bug out if it was being changed through loaded mod), then one of the quest aliases could be bugged up or the INI could have a broken setting; the alias issue would affect NPCs set to be essential by quests and the INI issue affects all essential/protected actors.

I've gone that encounter on a character so powerful for her level, Sahloknir never made it fully back to life before I got him dead again.

I toast to your success! Death to the Blades, Death to the Thalmor! hahahaha But yea, weird glitch. Delphine was yelling a lot at the dragon and actually kicked some butt the first playthrough. The last 2 times she was mainly in the background and I kicked dragon butt, but she never died, EVER. Weirdness...

Probably the ideal time for her to be able to die is Alduin's Wall. She's not essential after she gives you the horn right? That's when I'd pay to kill her.

Thanks for the advices!

I gotta admit I was lazy and tried it with the kill cheat and it worked. I didn't feel like fighting that dragon again. No xp gained, but this way I saved some potions, so it evens out. ;)

I'm not sure why you all hate Delphine so much, but I guess I'll find it out. :D

Click on Delphine. Type "IsEssential" then enter. If it returns 1, then try entering this in the console:

setINI "bessentialtakenodamage:gameplay" 1

If she's not essential, use "SetEssential" to fix her.

Now I've run into the problem again in the quest Alduin's Wall. Now even Esbern dies.

I tried this, and for both, Esbern and Delphine it returns "0.00". I tried to set them as essential with SetEssential, but it said "missing parameter actor base", so I typed in the character's ID but it says that it isn't a valid actor base.

What can I do to make Esbern and Delphine essential again?

This! Delphine is killable in your game without mods(unless you forgot you have non-essential mod) or cheats!! Enjoy it while it lasts.
