Desmond - Could he appear in New Vegas?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:43 am

Is anyone else curious if Desmond will make an appearance? For those needing a refresher, he was that [censored] tough [censored] of a ghoul from Point Lookout. He was a prewar ghoul, and was pretty big on letting you know how in incredibly [censored] tough he was compared to your power armor wearing smoothskin ass.

After his quest was completed, he said he was headed north, to deal with one of the few remaining prewar foes he had. As his last mission involved raiding a secret robotics lab, I'm really cuious if he has any ties to a certain someone in vegas as well. He knew senators, high ranking military guys etc. Mr House, being prewar, and being obviously connected enough that Vegas was mostly spared from the nuclear holocaust, makes me think he just may know of that [censored] ghoul from the east.

Anyone else?

Somehow I doubt he's going north to go west.

Nope, don't think he will make an appearance.
Bethesda should save him for Fallout 4.
Also: for all of those who are going to say "I killed Desmond" I'll say Canon Ending.

Given Desmond has a long standing "rivalry" with some of the most powerful figures who have survived from the prewar era, it's not implausible that we may see him go head to head vs Mr. House in FONV or a possible future DLC...

If FO4 is set in the Commonwealth then I would expect Desmond, because that's actually up North. It's improbable that he will go west that far.

He was by far my favorite character in F3 and the most intriguing. I really hope we at least hear something of him, because I genuinely want to know what the hell he is all about and what happened to him in the past.

You could push a Ford Mode T across the country in less than 3 years. For someone thats been around for 200+ years, he'd know the way. Not to mention he's bad enough to shoot a carvan trder or two in the face just to ride the brahmin.

Could Desmond stand up to Super Mutents, Deathclaws, Brotherhood of steel, Raiders, Yao Guai. Maybe but unless he sneaks around those objects he won't make it to New Vegas in 3 yrs.

What about Eddy?
He made it across the country in less than a year and he's just an eyebot.

Not really, no. Just hoping that he, like every other Fallout 3 character, stays over in the DC area and lets New Vegas be New Vegas.

I also think it's more likely to be a FO4 appearance (assuming Commonwealth). Could be a DLC thing, potentially a reference to the guy (seeing as there's some serious love for him) but I would be surprised if he was actually present.

Of course he could get across in three years, that's a very long time, yes he would need to avoid most fights but then most opponents aren't the brightest bunch, that and one of the biggest threats (well, two if you include the DC muties, but they're gonna be fairly isolated), ghouls, aren't going to attack him. That makes a lot of the possible locales a haven since he can camp up in their presence and even have his own little sentries....
Thinking about it, an FO3 ghoul would be a beast survivalist. You can just camp it up with the ferals and let them guard you at night...huh...never thought of it before.

Anyway, no don't reckon he'll be there, physically possible but not really likely.

Expect a mod to that effect. It'd be very easy to duplicate him in the NV GECK.

I mean, it'd take what, 6 months to a year to walk across the US? If ED-E can do it, it's possible for other characters to do it.

That said, the most i'd want is a reference to him in passing. Maybe House (who is the most likely person to know him) could mention something about a foul-mouthed mustachio'ed ghoul.

A reference like that would be pretty awesome, but I kind of doubt that it will happen.

I hope so, I could use another pair of those glasses. :)

I liked desmond too, especially the story line, but I couldn't let him live after using me and giving me crappy quest reward like that microwave gun.

I wouldn't mind as his back story is good, but I'd just as soon see new characters.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised. Yeah, he said he was going North, that was, what, three years ago? Plenty of time in my opinion. For those wondering, he was, probably, part of The Great Game, a Russian term referring to rivalry and conflict between nations. Who knows what high ranking/standing official survived the war, as Desmond did, as a Ghoul and took shelter in New Vegas.

If any FO3 character appeared in NV, Desmond would be the most logical. There is a pre-war "player" living in NV...namely Mr. House. He could be one of the loose ends Desmond has been spending his time tying up.

Do we even know when that eyebot was dispatched? For all we know it was sent out before Fallout 3.

If Desmond turns up in FO:NV I will be surprized since I took his head off with a shotgun right after letting him help me kill the brain, never could stand the pompous attitude of either.
