Destroy the Thieves guild and revenge for hired thugs DLC ex

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:31 am

Hello again everyone.

as mentioned in my other request to Bethesda, in this topic http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1340875-get-rid-of-the-essential-tag-off-npcs-bethesda-some-spoilers-inside/page__fromsearch__1 I was wondering if we could have the option to destroy the thieves guild and make Rifen a nice town to live in; I also found it insulting how you are the dragonborn who killed Alduin, and yet, common human thieves (and maven-black briar) treat you like crap...

So, why not have the option to wipe out the menace of Riften if you're playing as a non-thief player?

As for Maven...make it so if you do destroy the Thieves guild, but leave the dark-brotherhood alone, providing that you are not a member of them, she puts a contract on you...and you can deal with both her and the Darkbrotherhood for having the gall to attack YOU!

if both the guild and the brotherhood are gone, Maven will be frightened of you if she isn't Jarl, and will pay you to leave her alone; if she is jarl, she will "pretend" she never had help from either side and will request that you become her enforcer, provifing you with certain people to 'deal with'.

As for the Hired thugs, has anyone else found it odd how the person who sent them after you talks normaly when you confront them? Lets say this is real life, someone steals something from me, I know who they are and I hire three thugs to hurt them, the thugs go and try and kill them, only to be killed by them, then that thief tracks me down because I signed the contract with my name; I am NOT going to talk to them normaly, saying "hello, what can I do for you?"...no, I'll instantly recognise them, panic and run for it.

So why not make it so after you kill the thugs, take the note and track down the owner; when you enter the vicinity of them, they should spot you and voice out "uh oh", and when you talk to them, they will panic and stamper a "hello", you then respond "recognise THIS? (show contract), and they will now REALLY panic (or if they are a tough person, they will yell "come to get me eh? come on then, thief!" and brawl with you) ...now you have the following options,

(a) forgive them (persuade)
( extort money from them (intimidate)
? beat them senseless (brawl)
(d) KILL them (attack)

This proves a valuable morale...if you're sending thugs to hurt/kill someone, for the love of the nine! dont sign your name on the contract!

This makes it more realistic for dealing with people who send the hired thugs on you...especially if the item you 'stole' was almost worthless; I had thugs sent on me for 'stealing' a flower from a plant.

Who else agrees that this is an idea to be concidered for future patches or DLC additions?

Sorry, I only read the first line, but if you what happens for people who have done the thieves guild, support it, or a completing it etc and don't want to start a new character. The DLC would have absolutely no use to those people at all.

Yes because something you learn within five minutes of joining the Thieves Guild is totally a spoiler. >_>

I think it's time to remove your head from your [censored], nothing in his post could really be considered a spoiler unless you've spent 90% of your time in Skyrim with your head in the sand, the majority of it is obvious. Not only that but he tags the fact there may be spoilers in the topic title, stop backseat modding and chill out.

As for these suggestions, they're interesting but I refuse to pay for them, as these are elements that should already have been in the game. So DLC on this one is a no from me, patching it in is incredibly unlikely (never going to happen actually) as it would require too much work on Bethesda's end to release for free, they'd have to record fresh dialogue, tweak a few parameters here and there to make this possible in the first place and they break their game enough as it is without trying to add new things instead of just fixing them. Plus joining the Thieve's Guild is buggy enough without having to have an option to destroy them as well.

Thank you.

By the way, When I said DLC, I meant have these options added into other DLC, so it's sort of a patch fitted into a DLC...You'd be paying for the other DLC itself and not this; this would just be an additional quest found with the new DLC in general (what ever it is).

Take care now.

It would be stupid to have people say "uh-oh" after they have sent the DB after you. You first have to do something to get them to do this in the first place and that something is not exactly a noble act.

Then why do you hang out at the Thieves Guild when you do not like them? Their are not exactly living in a palace and all have made bad experiences in their lives that led them to become thieves. It is why they act tough and rough. If you do not like them that is one thing, but why murder everyone?

Your entire comment does not make much sense.

I dare say it, you are not a dragonborn ... you are the dragonpsychopath!

If I ever get the PC version, I'll just get a mod that deals with the cut option of destroying the Thieves Guild.
Same with contract revenge- I'll wait and just download a mod which allows you to attack a person who's put a bounty on you for no crime bounty.
Or it could be like the Morag Tong writ system, as after you've had your revenge you could just show the contract to a guard and get off scott free.

Bethesda won't fix what they broke or forgot about. It's like asking a 7 year old to do their homework instead of watching cartoons, there is just no use in it.

While I'd love it if Bethesda decided to fix this and other things (like revamping the College of Winterhold so it meets its potential for epicness)...they're not going to.

As Guild Master of the Thieves Guild... what use would this DLC have?

I'd much prefer Bethesda expand on all Guild questlines if they build on Skyrim rather than add new locations for DLC.

Bethesda wouldn't even need to release it as DLC. They could just release it as a huge ass update. It's not impossible: Fallout: NV had the entire gameworld change with one patch. (Note: FO:NV was published by Bethesda.)

I agree with destoying the thieves guild. Brynjolf is annoying, actually is dislike everyone in the thieves guild and the quests. `want to make some gold?" I don't concider 50g for 30 minutes play time worth it. the problem is that in the LORE which is noted on UESP the thieves guild is returned to its glory for the time of the Dragonborn. I would like to see it go, but I'm sure it won't happen. I use things like setrace to change someone into a slaughterfish, tai to make Brynjolf stop talking. and setscale 1.2 and sixchange on Maven for comidic purposes. quite depressing that DB was added as killable, but the lore still has them going for later games and DLC

Thieves Guild: Bah! I'm the listener for the Dark Brotherhood. Maven Black-Briar can KMA. As far as the Thieves Guild goes, I've got the Skeleton Key. It's MINE. MINE. I took it from the bastard Mercer, who stole it from Nocturnal, so I guess I stole it from Nocturnal, too. I just went along with the Nightengale thing so I could get the key from him. My soul belongs to Akatosh and Sithis. So the luck of the Thieves Guild will continue to dwindle and fester. I can continue to fence stolen goods with the Khajiiti Caravans, and various merchants with whom I've bought an interest and picked up the "Fence" perk.

So.... what Bethesda needs to do is make the Skeleton Key work like a real key and actually open any door without any of this "This lock cannot be picked" BS.

I`ve never used or needed the skeleton key in Skyrim. Needed it in oblivion though. Sometimes I think it would be nice to be able to enter some of the locked areas for the thieves guild but in order to progress you have to
Spoiler
send an innocent man to jail.
Which I will never do, he is to nice.
