Destruction Ritual Quest - non spoiler help requested

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:51 am

I reached 100 with my destruction skill and Faralda gave me this cryptic Power of Elements book. All it says is:

"Northward, haunted
northern coastline

And south, Dwemer
live and toil,

A simple place,
a shield from draft.

At this stand
wield mage's craft

So fierce the sea will boil."

Now I've been wandering the wastes of the Pale for the last couple of hours. I love that this quest doesn't point me exactly where I need to go, but at the same time I've probably killed off the entire horker and snow bear population of the northern coastline as I aimlessly wander around the northern shoreline, and while it may not be making the sea boil par se, I've probably contributed a fair bit to Tamrielic global warming with all the FIreballs and Incinerates I've lobbed into the sea of ghosts.

Can anyone please help me narrow down my search? My initial thought for this location was the glacier valley north of Alftand (you know the one with the frozen mammoth) but I've had no luck after much wandering around. And I don't even know what I'm meant to do when I find the place, so for all I know I've probably wandered past it already.

I know I could easily look this up online but tbh this is the only thing that has excited me in skyrim for the last 50 hours or so and I really want to do this 'myself'. So please don't link me to a wiki, or tell me exactly where I need to go. I'm really trusting and hoping that someone gives me a good clue to narrow my search!

Many thanks, and please don't spoil!

I stumbled upon the place and activated it purely by accident, which made this quest very memorable for me. I hadn't even started looking for the spot. Apart from saying that you should keep looking, I don't know what to say that would not spoil it. :(
I know if I had been looking, it would have been a miracle if I'd found it without help.
'A simple place' that is a shelter from the draft with the 'haunted Northern coastline' "Northward". And you're already on to something with "Fireballs", but I don't like the unnecessary death of the poor wildlife. :(

Thanks, i'll keep looking. I think I may know where you might mean if I'm to take "another word for draft" in a non-literal way...

Haha BOOM! Many thanks for the help guys. As soon as I realised the Dwemer settlement needn't be Aftand I was on to a winner!

Great clues from Aphaea - as soon as the place was discovered I had a smile on my face :)

And best thing is I already know where the next one is seeing as I found the place right at the beginning of the game. Lets get some master destro spells on!
