Dev Diary #5

Goddamnit that MSN player is annoying... it keeps dropping the resolution if I try to rewind a bit to get a second look at something, and darkens the screen if I pause to take a closer look. Grrr.... Why can Microsoft never match the quality of other software when they rip it off??

I'm thinking I'll try to delay going to The Strip for as long as I can in the main quest. At least until I explore a decent amount of the Wasteland. I want to be able to compare my first steps into The Strip to a bunch of other locations so I can properly appreciate how different it is from the rest of the Wasteland.

Smart move.... but im afraid the strip will drag me to it. I will be hearing a little buzz near my ear, "The ladies of the night are waiting for you, they want you. The Strip is awaiting your arrival". It will slowly pull me in. Then as i start moving the opposite way of the strip a buzz will ring in my ear, "You go that way you die, you come to the strip and you will have the time of your life, protected from the outside world.". Then at a leaps pace i will race to the strip. Entering it i wont know were to start. Thats when i find out about the omerta, i be like, "Whew, sweet, and the Gommorah is your six house?". After learning what i can about the omerta i will enter the gommorah.... but not for the reasons you expect. I will shoot my way in, then blow the place up, "Sin city shall fall!" I will yell in a rage as i blow Gommorah down.

I wonder if that longcoat outfit was the H3RMES outfit.
Wow. That video is terrible quality. Looks so much better when it's actually on HD. Anyway, http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/2046/h3rmes.jpg an HD screenshot of the armor that looks like the H3RMES outfit.
Nice catch, that is definitely HERMES armor there, note the leather strap and the chest plates in the screenshot and http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100910162249/fallout/images/6/66/Nv-rifle-dude.jpg.

That's a relief, I was starting to think it was going to be unobtainable.

There Is no doubt that that is it. It has the same strap, chestplating, overcoat, and thing that says "08".

Also, why did it say oct. 22? Aren't the release dates oct. 19 & 21?

Because October 22nd seems to be the official release date to get it in stores over here in Europe.
Let me correct that, Belgium at least.
Unless we get rarely lucky again that it gets released earlier.

Good Dev Diary, the strip looks awesome and drunken soldiers. I wonder if you could use the Science skill to hotwire the Securitrons that would be sick, the Securitrons killing good people by accident. B)

I hope you're kidding - for your sake.

If your not: The actual armor is called H3RM35. Over the years it's lost its original name and has since been converted to simple; HERMES.

Its all speculation, not confirmed. I also hate leet speak, reminds me of little kids on halo. If he wants to call it Hermes armor, so be it.

I never said he couldn't call it that, I was just saying that the official name for it as of now is 'H3RM35'. Saying; "We're not going to call it H3RM35" is a bit of a uninformed declaration. I also hate 'leet' speak, but that's just the way it was originally named.

Doesn't leet speak predate Halo by quite a bit though?

And I can imagine the armors official designation being H3RM35, but everyone except the most specifically minded just calling it "Hermies." Honestly, either way sounds just fine and makes sense to me.

It probably does, but it still reminds me of little kids on Halo. And you mean official as in the in-game name? If so, I don't think so because they usaully use general terms, maybe NCR Ranger Coat

I've seen the photo, it doesn't mean thats what the armor will be called in your Pip-Boy or anything. As I said before, they don't use specific labels in-game. For example the R91 is just the Assault Rifle.
