I keep an installation on one of my flash drives. You won't find me online though, it's nothing but bots and people who, in my opinion, have completely lost the game in their obsession with ladders and whatever runs.
I'll never understand that line of thinking. To me, the fun of Diablo 2 lies entirely in its loot and skill systems, which are so well made and diverse that I never feel the need to go on a run for any specific piece of equipment. It's one of those games where not only am I completely content on the loot I find as I go, but it's often very good loot regardless. Plus, the shops are there in case I really need to upgrade something ASAP. Personally, I find it much more enjoyable to play through the game with absolutely
no plan on farming for
anything; I'll simply take what the game gives me, and this often produces some surprising and fun results. If I get good stuff, that portion of the game becomes easier and I get to own everything for a while. If I don't, then I get to enjoy the added challenge.
If I ever felt like I needed to do hundreds of Baal runs, or rush my characters through to Hell mode without enjoying the experience of gradually becoming powerful through hard work and exploration, it would cease to be a game and just be some job that I don't get paid real money for.
