dialougue options

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 5:25 am

Saw the trailer today, and I cant say how impressed I am. I've always been an Elder Scrolls fan and love that series dearly, but My one (main) issue with the series is the lack
of dialogue options.

Since this game is scripted, I was curious if anyone knows how the dialogue works. Will it be like the Mass Effect series? Where you are presented with a series of choices? Or
are you just a voiceless, optionless entity that goes down the path that the game lays out for you?

While I don't expect to get any answers right away, I'm curious to see some speculation on how it will work, as well as what you guys want or don't want

I believe that you will talk, but not have options. You speak mostly through actions in the game. Those actions may, however, influence what you say.

Oh that's a shame (IMO at least) Probably not a deal breaker though if the game plays as good as it looks.

Yeah, it's not my favorite choice, but it's not supposed to be an RPG, and it isn't.

Yeah, cause I'm a dike I just needed to respond by saying "I'm not a big fan of dialogue options most of the time."

Okay bye.

I think he's expressing his opinion that he doesn't like dialogue options in games

Only joking.

I would prefer not to have dialogue options in Dishonored though...

On a serious note: I hope there are dialogue options. But I hope they aren't so painfully obvious as Mass Effect. My stick still pulls to the top right from my paragon playthroughs. I hope they try and do it like Alpha Protocol and Human Revolution. And I hope like hell they don't make every statement require a choice.

If there are any dialogue options, I suppose they would be more akin to those in Deus Ex rather than Mass Effect. That is to say that I don't think choices would differentiate between what is morally right or wrong.

I prefer them to flesh out Corvo and not add an option like that. It only worked in Deus Ex:Human Revolution anyway and even then some of the choices where either redundant or arbitrary. Please no dialogue options.

Dialogue options would be nice. It makes a better RPG.

I get the impression there are going to be few dialogue options, but that when Corvo does speak, it will actually be important to the plot of the game, rather than pointless filler. He's a man of action, and he's on a mission. There's little to no reason for him to be gabbing about with people.

Dialogue options could help us players effect the story the way we want.

Our actions affect the story, Corvo is quite literally a man of action
