Did anybody else have this while playing FO3?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:36 pm

Back when I was at my peak of FO3, I was putting in 5-7 hour sessions and while I did those, I saved A LOT. I did this so that I could always get the best possible outcome (one of the perks of being able to save anywhere) from speech checks, and also so that I wouldn't have to backtrack too much if I made a mistake or got into a firefight that I wanted to avoid. I'm talking saving every 3-5 minutes, sometimes less. Needless to say, I would often go back and actually use them.

Well after a while I started to get the sensation of reverting to an older save file... in real life. I'm talking about "Oops, I dropped my notebook in the water. I'll just revert to five seconds ago." or "Damn, I did pretty bad on that quiz. I'll just revert to two days ago and study harder." I really can't explain how this happened other than playing the game and becoming so immersed in it, LOL.

What do you guys think? Was I playing WAAAAY too much? Or did this happen to you, too?

PS: I remember in the CE interview, one of the guys said that one of the goals for the game was to see a "decrease in productivity in the workplace". LOL it sure as hell worked on me!

Not really, but I wish REALLY bad that I had a backup save before monday.

What a disaster that day was.

Normally on my first run I don't save/load, or my second. After three or four I might though.

Maybe they should include a new warning label for games.
Warning - Don't take immersion too far.

If you read through these forums often enough, you'll hear people off-handedly mention their attempts at loading another save in real life. Ha ha, I think it's kind of funny. I mean, we've really come a long way as far as realism and immersion in a fictional world.
I used to have this problem where I saw things from games that weren't there when I looked back. Little stuff like that happens too.

Well I should point out the reason that I got so save-heavy in the first place.

I had just had a 2 hour session and had not saved since I started (remember this is before I was a save-freak) and I was going into the ship (forgot the name) from underwater. I saved just half-way underwater and then drowned as I got to the door. I reloaded the save and it was impossible for me to come back up to the surface or get through the door without drowning. So I was stuck in this loop and basically lost 2 hours of gameplay (and a few quests) and didn't want to make the same mistake again, LOL.

After a marathon session of The Sims 2 I started to wish that I could skip through my day at 3x speed. I have experienced what you say as well. I have often dropped something under my bed and wished to revert to an older save. Yes, I know that I'm lazy. :disco:

I'm confused.

Haha that's good to know that I'm not alone. As for seeing things, that's a new one to me.

LMAO that's a good one! I think I had that one, too.

Hehe, no it didn't happen to me. Almost though. I was in Walmart with my wife, and I took the "sneaking" potition and my why asked me "What the frack are you doing?" I was about to yell out "NIRNROOT" when we passed the plant section but she stopped me from doing it.
