Did I break Beyond the Beef? : Fallout: New Vegas

Okay, so if the other rancher and his wife ask you to shank Gunderson, (Henderson?? whatever...) and then you talk to him and decide to try getting his kid out, then it all goes to hell... I was kinda diggin' stealthboy-sneaking into the kitchen, picking the chef's pocket, locking him into the pantry, cooking the fake meat, and trying to expose Mortimer, but Mortimer kept walking out of the room as he delivered his speech, and all the security just jumped me, even after he got to the conclusion...

I tried about twenty ways to do it, but nothing worked. Was it the stealthboy part-- do I have to do it the "get a sponsor" way? Was it that I took two conflicting quests-- to kill Gunderson, and to help him?
And if I decide to kill Gunderson, is there a sneaky way to do it? Just strolling over and knuckle-dusting him gets me jumped by security... not a problem to beat them all, but it's not really my goal to just kill all the staff.

So far I just took the money from the couple on the sidewalk and walked away to do other things... :wink_smile:

Did you approach Mortimer after he finished speaking and initiate conversation? I didn't use stealthboy, but I did crouch, hiding with Ted, until the speech was over, sneaked up behind Mortimer, then stood and spoke with him.

I had the same problem.. I enter the room with Ted and one person attacks me.. Then they all do.. I followed the instructions perfectly and tried multiply times... yet.. Mortimer never even starts his speech, they all just sit there. Then one attacks and it starts off a chain reaction.

I came to the conclusion that u have to be in the white glove society in order to expose Mortimer in that way.

I did it successfully...but then I was wearing White-Glove attire and mask.

hmm... I had the clothes and mask, and was crouched and hidden with Ted... but Mortimer steps away from his podium and strolls toward the exit, still speechifying, and fades out the double doors. I did notice one security lady already gripping her cane in attack position near the exit, so I guess she's suspicious.

Any thoughts on the mixed/conflicting quests? I guess I'll try it again following all the rules. It does seem very complicated... like it might be hard to set it all up so you could come at it in odd ways and not mess it up.
