Does the bookshelf exploit still work after 1.4? wondering if anyone could confirm.

it's more an exploit than a glitch, simply don't do it if you don't want it to happen..

According to one member who posted about it a few days ago, no.

Hmmm I may be able to check...... ok duplicating the book is possible but a hundred times more difficult. Exploiting it to max out skills without duplicating the book. Still works.

I just got the Oghma book today after previously upgrading to v 1.4 (Xbox 360). I can verify being able to use it TWICE for skill leveling before it vanished. The first time I used it was directly from my inventory after first picking it up off the podium. The second time I used it was after placing it on the top shelf of my Alchemy room bookshelf in Breezehome and reading it directly from the bookshelf. After this second use, the book vanished from the bookshelf.

On PC, Skyrim 1.4.21.04 yesterday I used the exploit exactly as described in the SkyrimWiki - it 'worked' twice & the book was still on the bookshelf. What's more the bookshelf in question was in the library of the 'Dovahkin Hideout'.

Then I went back to my last save, used the book once properly, got ONE set of skill boosts & destroyed the book.

It works, but just coz you CAN do it doesn't mean you SHOULD do it.

How did you get the upgrade 1.4 on the 360?

Honestly if you're looking for ways to powerlevel skills you'll find plenty of them, whether this glitch is fixed or not. You need to either decide to cheat, or decide not to. Either way can be fun but don't bank on the game ever being able to police that decision for you.

If you were trying to use it indefinitly(or until your all maxed out) you did it wrong.

I use it, drop it quickly and pick it up quickly, and repeat...

I agree with this statement. In a way, they're only removing something rather than improving the game. I never exploited this as I could simply use console commands to cheat if I were into that sort of thing anyways. I suppose if you wanted to ruin/enhance your experience on a console this is a reasonable option.
