DiD idea: Buy extra lives

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:29 pm

Here's a "Dead Is Dead" idea for the less-than-hardcoe players:

Buy extra lives

Eventually, we all get more money than we need. So, "spend" it on extra lives. You determine the price - I'm considering 5000 gold. You determine how the money is "spent" (removed from your inventory) - I'm planning to reverse pickpocket it onto a begger.

This is how I will play my DiD thief/assassin when I create him. I simply can't fathom having all the time I put into a character wrenched away by one death. So, just like arcade machines take quarters, I'll buy myself extra lives.

Your thoughts?

That seems really cheap in my opinion, but youre entitled to do so. I mean, if you are afraid of erasing your character, don't do a DID walkthrough

Sounds interesting, but 5000 is too low for me. If I were to do something like this I'd maybe do something in the 150000 to 200000 range. You could probably role play this in as well. Maybe a d/aedric god turns back time and gives you a second chance but only for a hefty tribute.

Sort of defeats the purpose of Dead is Dead, doesn't it?
Oh yeah I'm playing dead is dead, but when I earn some gold I can just reload when I die.

I see this as an arcade mode you start with 3 lives if you lose them game over and "insert coin here" means you restart but lose all your gold

I like to think that holds true in any case where the player is still alive after the player-character is killed.
