A low frame rate could explain it, too. At a high frame rate will the physics simulation have a good chance to detect the collision with the balcony floor. At a low frame rate, maybe due to the video capturing software, could it drop to a point where it fails to detect the collision in time, but finds the player being stuck in the balcony and thus places him onto the balcony.
