Did you have a major glitch?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:50 pm

I know this may be a good sampling of all players, but I'm curious to see how many people on this forum had issues with this game.

Just a thought...you might want to define the what you mean by a "major" glitch. Some people might consider an odd texture "major." :P

Did you read the question? Seems pretty clear. Please note the topic is not the entirety of the poll question.

None what so ever. Just small annoying ones. Hell the game barely even crashes on me. Guess I'm lucky. PC by the way

Yeah just read the question above the poll posted by the OP its pretty clear.
And yes I found 3 major quest glitches that totally failed on the PC but I can't post it here because it involves spoilers.

I have a theory I'm testing. In hind sight I wish I had grouped the responses by positive/negative rather than by system. Probably would have made the outcome easier to see at a glance.

The one destructo glitch I had was due to my Anti V not NV, but as the bug hit as NV updated I blamed it at first so nope.
I've had a few bugs, notably the ED - E ones, and hand loaded guns / movement gitch but neither are what I consider major.

I marked no major glitch but I have had some CTDs which I guess some would count as major especially if they had not done a hard save or quick save over an hour or two. But I don't count it as a major glitch. I just say a swear word or two and start her back up.

I had several small glitches or bug but those didn't bother me overly much either. I just moved on to something else. Actually it runs better on my pc than Fallout:3 did when it first came out. No stuttering or drops in framerates like I had to battle in FO:3 for a bit.

But just because I was lucky doesn't mean everyone was.

And yeah, some guidelines on what might be considered "major" might help.

Second playthough I tried to get the Archemedes laser, and I also had the heave-ho perk, so each time I used the rangefinder the came CTD'd.

I've had a few here and there.

Best glitch by far? watching a Deathclaw corpse shoot from Quarry Junction to the BoS bunker entrance at Hidden Valley. Laughed for a good few seconds.

PC, freeze on spawn, I also experienced the same thing with FO3, it appears to have something to do with random spawn selection, it does not happen all the time so I'm guessing that only one out of the random list is the cause, in FO3 I solved it by using GECK to remove a random raider spawn.

I've experienced a couple of CTD's but not so much to become annoying.

on PC:

Numerous freezes, savegame corruption once.

In 3 of 4 playthroughs ED-E's quest glitched uncompleteable

In 4 of 4 playthroughs Veronica's Quest glitched likewise unable to be started let alone completed

1 of 4 playthroughs Boone's quest glitched, but was completable (just had to do more than usual, if I had already done some NCR quests it would have been locked out)

The only companions that I have been able to complete each and every playthrough were Rex (4/4), Lilly (3/3) and Raul (1/1)

Once again, please note that the topic title is not the complete poll question. The definition of "major glitch" that I am using is stated in the poll question in the body of the main post. The full question:
Did you experience at least one glitch which crashed your game, corrupted your file or rendered an important person/place/object unusable?

That for example is not what I would consider "major". Notable certainly, but because it was limited to a relatively unimportant NPC in an unmarked quest and particularly because it fixed itself over the course of play, I wouldn't consider it major.

The general consensus Ive found is the 360 is chalked full of bugs and has horrendous load times, this I can attest to personally. The PS3 has great load times but has bugs, not as many as the 360 though. PC is rig dependent but has general bugs and good load times.

Have had corrupted saves losing about 2 hours of playtime

Had the original Quick/Auto save problem

Lots of crashes

I've been playing for nearly 80 hours now and my pc game crashed about 6 or 7 times so far. Several of those crashes have been to the desktop, others locked up the whole system. That's about one major 'glitch' every 10 hours of playing. Due to autosave on entering/leaving an area/building and F5quicksave taking no time during play, I've never lost more than a few seconds of 'progress' from crashes.

I've had about 10 CTDs in 250 hours of play on PC. Which if you've ever done anything on a PC, you'll know is barely worth mentioning. 7 of those were caused by having Steam online community enabled during play (which is not needed for a single player game), and the other 3 were caused by ALT-TABbing out while the PipBoy display was up, which FO3 didn't like either. I do hard saves regularly and keep a huge log of saves, so even when I do CTD I only have to go back 10 minutes at the most.

I've not come across any bugs that prevented me from completing a quest.

I've had an amazing experience for a game this size, when I think about how buggy some of the quests in Oblivion were (and I love Oblivion also)...
