I always install games to my Xbox HDD (Hard Drive) before playing them, to help performance, and I've never had major problems affecting the game, or console either (such as save corruption). This might just be saying something

Yes.. I always install the game I'm playing to the hard drive. For one it negates the disc spinning noise. For another it just seems to make the game run smoother for me. Don't know if it actually does but I feel it does and I guess that's what matters.

Yes 5 minute load times (both ways) to get in and then out of a small 1 room abandoned shack was not fun. :brokencomputer: After installing the game and making sure the game was up to date load times are alot better.

Still haven't bothered installing. In Fallout 3 I noticed reduced performance when installed so just assumes NV would be the same.
Although I've had a new slim 360 since then so it might be worth trying an install.

slapped it on the hard drive soon as i got it,do this with all the games as you don't have to hear the force nine gale of the disc drive working away when your playing em!

My Elite is about 3 years old and it has one of the noisy disk drives (It roars) I have to really crank up the TV volume if I don't install it to the hard drive. So I install every game I get to the hard drive.

My HD isn't even big enough. It's only 20GB

20GB is big enough,though you'll only be able to fit one game on it,takes around 5min for the download.it's worth it if your gonna spend hours on a game.

I installed the game to my hard drive and the only difference has been the silence. Previous Bethesda games (Morrowind, Oblivion & Fallout 3) sent the CD drive into over-drive. Load times are still long and the frame rate still drops. I'd hate to see how this game runs from the CD drive if running from the HD has this much slow down.

Yes I downloaded NV to my HDD and cleared my cache to stop the freezing issues I was experiencing. Well, needless to say, I am still having the same problems. I don't have the save corruption issues that everyone else is. My game just freezes every few minutes and I have to do a hard reboot and reload and try again.

I installed it to my HD, which I do with all my games... and clear the cache using the "A" button method... and have come across the occasional minor bug.


If I think the game is becoming unstable or load times are taking too long, I reboot, clear the cache again, and pick up where I left off.

Yes i did at first, *dirty Disc Error* WTF its on the HDD :@ it run's better off disc than off the HDD for me.

It is weird to get a disc error when playing from the HDD, a few week's ago im sure i read a few thread's saying avoid installing it to HDD? not 100% sure but i know i read it somewhere on these forum's.

Yep, I always install games I'm actively playing. In addition to improving load times in many cases, it also makes the system run cooler and much more quietly. I've never seen a game where it appears to slow or harm things, so I figure it is worth it just for the benefit of the system running cooler.

nor me,had the thing for almost 4year,only ever gives a headache with new vegas!

I installed the game in order to not have to listen to the disk seek every time I loaded a new area, which is pretty much every couple of minutes. Also it slightly improved my loading times.

I installed for first time on hard drive because I finally had enough space. It definitely is easy on the optical drive. The first thing to go out on my original Xbox was the optical drive. No major issues. Occasional freezes which I promptly restart and clear the game cache.

"this might just be saying something" might just not be saying anything, I have had FALLOUT:NV installed to my HDD from before I even started playing on it and it has still corrupted several save files and continues to corrupt any new ones that i create in most locations (especially autosaves) . The corruption occurred late in the game for me at about 90-100 hours in. Something that might affect the corruption is contact via messaging and file sharing etc, with other users who have had a few of their saves corrupted as my first corrupted save file occurred just after i had received a message from someone, who was actually telling me about their corruptions at the same time on the xbox ironic hey, and then i started to get save corruptions. but any new games you start don't have corruptions on them but any save files after the initial point of corruption like autosaves always corrupt themselves for me, so i cannot make any new save files until that patch comes out, but in some locations where i have saved it is not corrupted and i can actually load the files even after the initial point of corruption. but corruption isnt all that bad as it only ruins about 2 save files but the big thing is that any new ones i have created cannot be loaded in most locations. Locations where the game has not corrupted for me was when you enter the fighting arena in the Thorn, and if you save in Caesars camp, but all of my other new saves that i had attempted to make have been unable to load.

I installed it on my Slim with the hopes that it would get rid of some of the problems. The only ones I encounter are the occasional crashing and if I play it for hours non-stop it will slow down to a disgustingly low frame-rate.
