difference between heavy and light shields?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:12 am

i dont feel a difference between both, take for example:

an imperial shield and a light imperial shield

they both do the same job and yet one is heavier than the other? and has more armor than the other.

currently i use a full set of pontinus oculatus "cant remember" armor with a light imperial shield and an imperial sword. what difference would it make if i switched my light imperial shield with a heavy one?

would it slow me down? does it slow down the speed of holding up the shield?

im really confused right now as to WHY i should be compeled to use a heavy shield over a light one with my full set of light armor

i mean c'mon, im doing the same fighting style as i would do in heavy armor! "one handed with shield"

can anyone shed light onto this situation please?

many thanks

Why is it an issue?

If you are using Lt Armor, and thus skilled in the Lt Armor tree, the high skill should make the Lt Shield better for your character than a Heavy one.

its not really an issue, its something that deluded me slightly and nagged at me for a while :)

but thanks for the clarification! i'll stick to my good old light shield then!

You are very welcome. I'd stay with the Lt one too.

It would make sense if the weight of the shield added somehow to the bashing damage, but as far as I can tell it doesn't. You just end up using whatever shield your armor skill supports.
