Different Builds that Incorporate Block?

Hey guys, I really want to have a character that uses the Block tree, but I'm not a huge fan of the run-of-the-mill warrior build and I'm not sure what else would incorporate block, so does anyone have any ideas?

A Spellsword uses Block in combination with a melee weapon and Heavy Armor. Building a generalist does take up alot of perks, and is a weaker character than a typical Warrior/Mage/Stealth - overcoming the weaknesses is half the fun of ths kind of build though.

I saw a great video of a build that used just a shield, no weapon. The idea is to deadly bash with the shield and regenerate health and stamina with heal (with respite perk). Looked like a lot of fun, in fact I'm building a character like that right now. Another advantage is you can't be disarmed.

With an ebony shield you can do over 60 damage with a deadly bash. That's not super high but you really control the battle by keeping your opponent staggered and you take very little damage yourself.

I ran into an "Argonian" that used the same tactic in game after reading about it in a post last month, He used spells instead of a weapon.

Try Shield + Staff. You can block their attacks and stun them with the shield, and when they're out of melee range you can whittle them down with fireballs etc. You can use Respite + Fast Healing to keep your stamina up for bashes. Shields become pretty self sufficient later on in the game, especially with things like Targe of the Bloodied and its bleed damage, and Disarming Deadly bash.

A spellsword is your best bet, my friend. I use healing and shield with my Imperial werewolf.

A lot of the Block perks work for two-handers.

Two-handed shield bash deals more damage then when using a shield. Deadly bash amplifies that difference.

You may want to read this, skip to the 4th post if you are impatient.

Use Peyrite's artifact (spellbreaker) to absorb magic damage and use your preferred spell in the other.
