I'm really having difficulty with Malyn Varen and his firebolts! I am at level 29 and Nord. No matter what i do (I use Dwarven flawless bow (damage 113) and Wuuthrad (damage 60)), Malyn and his followers burn me up before I can kill them. Any suggestions (other than adjusting difficulty level)?

I've had difficulties with them too. Eventually, I took a lot of fire resist potions with me, used some paralysis poisons so Malyn couldn't run anymore, and used the ice form shout on the dremora whenever I could so they would be busy for a while. Then I just dual wield hack 'n slashed Malyn to death. Be careful 'though, it still took me three times after that to get it right, with me dying right as I'd killed Malyn and Azura starting her speech the second time.

I was a Dunmer and had Boots of Waning fire or some such, so my fire resistance was maxed out (it caps at 85, I think). I just ran past all the Dremora and used Elemental Fury, then attacked him with my Ebony Sword and Glass Dagger.

I used invisibility potions so I remained undetected and killed them with bow and poisons.

Easist/quickest: go with the Resist Fire potions/enchants and/or rush straight to Malyn and kill him. You'll miss out on 3 Daedra Hearts, but you'll get the f out of there.

This. On lower levels I go straight for Malyn, then run like hell to avoid the daedra until that fool pulls me out of the star.

i prioritize malyn, i actually died right after i killed him, azura brought me back with a sliver of health right after that.
