Digimon

Post » Fri Aug 05, 2011 6:14 pm

Any of you guys ever watched the series when you where kids? I had watched most of the episodes till Season 3, then they stopped airing them on TV. I once managed to catch Season 4 or 5 on Italian TV and it looked VERY different from the Digimon I know.

Anyway, I found the episodes on youtube and I've been watching them today. :D

I remember watching the season finale of the first one when I was a kid, and almost crying. It was one of those things where everybody goes back to the real world and all the digimon stay in the digital world and they never see each other again.

Never managed to get into the later seasons though.

I watched the first series, but not the later ones with the new kids. One of the best kids shows of the time, even if it was a little primitive technically.

And Sora was hot. :hubbahubba:

I invested myself emotionally too much in this series when I was younger.

EDIT: Yeah I liked Sora. :P I googled her and one of the first images is a naked one of her - there goes my childhood dreams. She's a ho at heart. :( :P

She runs around in a towel in the one with the pelican and the desert ship.

Watched all of when they were kids, including the movie. Tis was good (but the movie had retconning)

Watched almost all of when Kari and TK were teens, Davis needs to die, the ending was horrible, and sooo much retconning. I think most of all, though, I hated how TK and Kari didn't end up together :P

Watched a decent bit of Digimon Tamers, it was kinda good.

Saw a few episodes of Savers/frontier and didn't have a clue what was going on.

The problem with Digimon is it changed waaaaay too much

That reminds me: Digimon is different from most shows because the main characters keep growing up. Look at Pokemon where Ash has been 10 years old for about 12 years now, and then Digimon where the main cast keeps growing up and getting replaced by new kids.

That's true for seasons 1 and 2, but season 3 pretends that seasons 1 and 2 are TV shows/video games (funny, right?) and is radically different. For example, when a digimon would die, your digimon could absorb its power rather than letting it turn back into a digiegg D: Season 4 kinda returned back to like seasons 1 and 2 from what I saw, and then once agains season 5 was a big WTF has nothing to do with anything beforehand.

To me it felt like the writers never knew what to make digimon into, so just took a shotgun approach with the different seasons.

Anyway, back to season 1, Izzy was awesome. :mohawk: Man, I should have realized back then with how cool Izzy was that I was destined to be a nerd, so much time could have been saved :P

I absolutely loved Season 1. Completely lost interest after that.

I remember really liking the movies as a kid. There's one where the Digimon are like computerized, and all kinds of crazy sh*t happens.

That would be all of it, since all digimon are computerized :P

Of course I know you are referring to the time a digimon was on the Human Internet, which was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diaboromon

He had an indestructible laptop. :P

Not to mention its crazy battery life!

Oh man, nostalgia wave! Digimon - digital monsters (duh). I think I might find that movie and watch it.

I don't remember much of it, but I know I've watched this show for quite some time. At the very least the whole first season.

I watched it a fair bit when I was younger, but all I can really remember is some kind of episode where there's a talking train and they rescue it. Or something. Unless I'm crazy and all that was a dream.

Same as with pokemon. Both used to be great, but turned into cluster [censored] later on. Or maybe I just grew up. Nah, that can't possibly be it, can it?

Man I used to be obsessed with Digimon. I used to pine after Matt. Hey, it was my 2D crush phase, don't judge.

01 was the best series, it totally went downhill after that. Although the epilogue for 02 where Gabumon becomes an astronaut was kind of lollarious.

I always thought it was trying to be like Pokemon but failing badly (a copy, dare I say?)

In any case, I watched Pokemon as a kid but have zero interest in it now.

Completely disagree. I watched both but I actually prefer Digimon

I watched all the first 3 seasons, plus two of the movies and I had a few games for the PSOne and the PS2 :)

Fondest Digimon memory: playing the original Digimon World on the PS1 as a kid; that game was so fun.

The first season was rad, too. Went downhill after that.

That game was awesome and Digimon World 2003, also for the PSOne was also pretty cool :)

I watched both and the only similar theme is that there are kids and there are monsters. I much preferred Digimon though.
