Diplomatic Immunity bugged

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 8:36 am

When comes to the party there is no other guests but Razelan and Elenwen, and none of them I can talk to. How am I gonna fix it? Its my second gamesave already. Gave up the first gameplay with like 80 hours gameplay, rested for a few days and took exams, and now spent another 80 hours on this one. I really dont want give it up again because of the bugs but I really dont wanna use console commands.

Thanks in advance guys.

Do you have any active mods? If so, I would disable them and try again from an earlier save. Even if you don't have any active mods, I would try to resume the quest from an earlier save, perhaps at a different time of day. I haven't seen this particular issue mentioned at http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Diplomatic_Immunity, so I don't have any other suggestions.

Another thing you can try is to make sure you don't have any other active quests when you attempt to complete this particular quest. If you have a lot of miscellaneous quests, you can also try to clear some of them out before attempting this quest. It is also possible that mods may have changed or corrupted your save game, in which case this may not be recoverable, but without knowing which particular mods you've used, this is impossible to diagnose.

I'll try to finish as many miscellaneous quests as I can, though some of them are already bugged as well. I uploaded all my mods, most of the unchecked mods was there coz I kinda wanna check their future updates. Please have a look at them and see if you can find any mods conflicts, cheers  as far as I remember, one of the few mods I used and deleted is dovahkin hideout.

Some of other bugs I have encountered during this playtime is like, resurrection of Skjor long after he was killed by silverhand; and Jarl of winterhold asked for helmet of winterhold twice; the quest is still showing in the miscellaneous quest log after I finished it, amulet of talos quest regarding the guy who got executed in Solitude also bugged. Dunno if they could possibly affect the current problem.

Anyway I'll go finish some miscellaneous quests first. Thanks man

Did you ever figure out what was causing this/how to fix it? I'm having the same exact issue...and am in the same boat (many many hours on first character, frustrated due to bugs not being fixed, started a new char...different bugs (mostly) but still a ton of them). I really don't want to start over/go back to a much earlier save.

EDIT: It's NOT caused by mods, I tried disabling them all before I posted. It's NOT caused by multiple misc quests, I only have about 6 of those right now, 2 of which I cannot turn in (bounty quests) due to bugs.
and...
I also tried moving each of the party-goers to me with the console...but each one just took off out the door again (like their scripting wasn't kicking in for the party). Of course I went back to a save before I moved them.

Well I fixed mine using the console.

After I talked to Malborn to tell him I was 'ready' and he asked me to create a disturbance, I opened the console and typed "setstage mq201 140" which set me on the stage of searching for information and (optional) retrieving my gear. I then used the command "tcl" to fly through the locked door into the pantry, then turned collision back on with another "tcl" once I was through. You could also just select the door and type "unlock".

Anyway, I'm now on the next quest - and nothing seems to be broken.

I did a manual save prior to starting this - just in case -.

You're welcome.
If you need more info on console commands, a good basic primer is http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console.

There's also a thread for this issue, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1350922-diplomatic-immunity-no-guests-at-the-party/page__gopid__20437173#entry20437173.

Snapless's solution does work. I tried several other places from 50-140 to advance using the console, but 140 is the one that works. The rest of the quest worked out fine. Missing the party still really svcks; there's some fun dialogue options there. Of course, only PC players have the option of using the console, so it will still be broken for xbox, etc players with the same issue.
