ED-E Disappeared

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:08 am

ED-E disappeared while I was heading into Nellis Air Force Base. I didn't notice it was gone until I had gone a long way and no longer had any previous saves. I've looked at Lucky 38 and back at Primm, and no luck in either places. I've read that using the elevator in Vault 22 and taking it to the fifth level respawns your current companions, but it doesn't work for me. I've tried deleting the update and going back and trying all of these things again too, but still no luck. I cannot fix Rex, and since ED-E is my companion I cannot go see Caesar since I'm not "alone". And that means I can't beat the game or progress any further, so does anyone have any advice? And is there any chance that this will get fixed with an update?

You must have missed the part where I said ED-E disappeared... How do I tell something that isn't there to wait outside? I still have it's perk and people still make robot comments, so it is still my companion. It just is nowhere to be found in my game.

It's another lovely Fallout bug.

Try going to the lucky 38 penthouse, companions get set to "wait" when you do that. Or try talking to victor in front of the lucky 38 and he'll make your companions wait out side.
It won't help you find ED-E, but it might get you into the tent.

google lost companions. There is some place you can go that will put your companion back on you. Can't remember the vault number off the top of my head, but it's the one with the plants in it. You take the elevator to the 5th level and for some reason it resets your companions that are currently tied to you. A good glitch for a change.

Can you guys actually read my post before responding? I already said I tried that and it doesn't do anything. I covered all my bases in my original post hoping I wouldn't be told to do things I've already tried.

Head back to Nellis along the path you used before. The boomers probably knocked him silly with their barrage.

I had Ed-E vanish, he got KO'ed, at Hoover dam, where I found him later, at which point he followed once I was in the same cell with him.
I found Ed-E by popping prid with Ed-E's reference number, instance in the world, not the base ID. Ed-E has 3 or 4, for each variation of Ed-E.
Then I moved the player to Ed-E player.moveto Ed-E's RefID, at whic point Ed-E rose up from being unconscious and followed.

I see potential for a mod to be made to fix this bad programming as it is not unique to just Ed-E.

Yeah, followers get KO'ed in battle, you move on not noticing "so and so" dropped, they're still set to follow, and it fraks up other events.

I've looked all over that area outside of the airfield and still no luck. I swear I've looked everywhere it could be in my world, other than underneath it or stuck in some wall somewhere. I also probably should have mentioned I'm on an Xbox so I unfortunately can't use any of the console commands.

I'm on an Xbox......

Bummer, for now. The PC patch released recently, soon to be out for the consoles, adds companions names to the world map.

Just wait for the patch and you'll be able to see where he is.

I lost Ed-E, in Vault 22, and still had his perk, but was still able to see Caesar.

I lost Ed - E at the "plant vault". Went back and tried the "fix" just as the OP tried but to no avail.

My pip-boy still shows the extra perception perk, just like he's still with me, but he's not.

Not sure what I should do at this point, I was just about to embark on the Caeser mission, but now I'm not sure I should.

I just quit playing altogether for now, but I'm considering starting my second play through. This update can't come soon enough, but even then who knows if it will even address this issue.

I lost Ed-E in vault 34. Went back to get him, and he was completely gone. I kept his perk, and NPC's kept acknowledging his presence. Could not enter Caesar's tent. And the vault 22 elevator trick was not successful. I'm very sure this isn't a glitch, since this has been such a clean piece of work thus far. I had to revert to a previous save. I have decided to not keep Ed-E around. He's not very useful, anyway.

He's useful for carrying stuff....that's all I used him for.

And after Vault 22...I always leave him outside now.

Maybe Eddie turned invisable? While playing today Raul didn't leave me he just turned invisable I couldn't talk to him or anything but he was still following me like a ghoul ninja... :ninja: Edit: he was about 5-7 feet away from me and his name would pop up when looking at him. He also says his lines when crouching and stuff.

I know this post adds nothing relevant to fixing your problem OP but adds posibilities to what happened.

Nah they're definitely not invisible. I would have noticed that a long time ago.

Boone turned up missing when we were all climbing rocks. ED-E stayed with me and when I went back to the NCR Safehouse, I went through the door and Boone was with me again.

Just relaying that in case it helps in some way. Good luck.

Well, it certainly doesn't hurt. I'm just going around to all of these locations people have said made their companions re-appear and I'm just hoping ONE of them will work for me. Off to the NCR Safehouse it is.
